Wait for the bad corporate results due to high cost of borrowing, high cost of imports and raw materials due to US$, high cost of labour and less than expected benefit from crude oil reduction. This is surely going send shock waves through financial statements of few listed companies.
Guess the names??

We should target winning stocks according to the market situation and should have some strategy to make use of market volatility. Even there are great winners in weak markets such as China and Malaysia. There are great demands for boring stocks globally. All types of market volatility, correction, and sell off, pull back are creating great opportunity for some investors and traders all over the world.

Some winners in 2015

US Dollar
Growth stocks

Some losers in 2015

Commodity producers
Emerging currencies

Possible winners in 2016/17

US dollar and Sri-Lankan rupee
Value stocks
Boring stocks (these are the ones to watch)
Grain, oil and other commodity users
Cash cows
Fast growers

Some Losers

Commodity producers
Panic buyers and sellers
Buying stocks which are not suitable for market situation
Buying overvalued stocks
Buying non-boring stocks specially overvalued stocks
Sell winning stocks and buy losers
NZ dollar, AUD

Finally we should identify stocks which have potential to break their 52 weeks high and all time high globally. At least we should identify one supper winner. If we analyse stocks some boring stocks listed in all types of market such as developed, emerging and frontier markets, we can find out some winning stocks. After their volatility and sell off we can see renewed interest on those stocks. Some have just passed their 52 weeks high and more on the queue. Some boring stocks could pass their all time high as well. Why don’t we find one of these types of stocks?

Once we see end of this volatility, we will see some emerging winning stocks in the market.

Guys
To be honest that none of the mentioned factors below are supporting CSE in any way. So I would only recommend the current CSE is good only for long term only or you will see in the coming months. Think and ask yourself about some of the points below. Don't just listen and believe.
Depreciation of rupees
local interest rate rise
federal interest rate hike
huge oil production when demands are low
decrease in exports and increase in imports ( trade deficit)
foreign reserve in the central bank including depreciation and volatility
China's economic conditions
Russia plans to privatise some of its government sector
political instability in Srilanka with complicated corruption and arrests which they find hard to charge on them,
Demand for safe haven increasing after long long time with reasonable prices.

I believe that ruling out domestic & international factors, concerned with financial market exclusively is inappropriate. But every characteristic bears its own weight ( heavy or light) depending on how entire system embodied with.

As one example, benefit to be derived from lowest oil prices is partly offset against currency valuation, but not all. Similarly, such kind of situations may bring either positive or negative impact on stock market.

In general, financial market is something that will not succeed as attempted, except possibly much force & effort.
