Today Sunday Lankadeepa has an article on more taxes on stock market. The articles highlights a statement made by RK. He says that government is going to implement a tax called 'PRAAGDHANA PRATHIYOJANA TAX' which is similar to the tax having on London Stock Exchange. I don't know anything about this tax so if our members know anything please share for the benefit of the members.

Thanks

This is another gilmart from Ravi k. He doesn't have any knowledge for what he is doing. This is the number one failed financial, minister in the history. What ever his introductions are getting really trouble for sri Lankan Economy.
The investors confidence are really low even I don't have any hope for new participation from retailers side. Electricity, water bills can hit the companies profit as well as disposable income in the community. So we have to wait some time before take any buying decisions . GL

increasing tax revenue is a good measure to stabilize the economy, it might have short term negative effect on the equity market but in the long/medium run equity market will bounce back strongly.

Equity market performance reflects the economy performance

If we can reduce the debt levels and and increase tax revenue levels in a sensible way without damaging the entrepreneurs and business confidence equity market will bounce back.

Yes you are correct jayathu. But this government is using these money mostly for recurrent expenses. So nothing will be allocated to reduce debt and insfractures developments.

please explain what is capital gain tax.

CGT is not a issue.

Interest rates Hike is issue. Political uncertainty is issue
Government financial situation is issue....

Capital Gain Tax taking from your gain.

when i work in London I paid 35% tax and NI, if this government take 35% from Your salary what will happen here.

people has to change minds. Politicians should wok properly

CGT discussion is use for control top businessmen in sri lanka by Ranil. some businessmen still support to MR. this is Political agenda.

I heard govt. is going to increase salaries of govt. servants from RS 10000-40000. Those increases will add to the basic salary within 4 years. So how can they pay huge salaries to 1.4 million employees. Definitely they will have to tax for all. So all non government people have to face lot of troubles.
