Please let us know about any listed entity affected by floods.

At the moment beer factory of LION in Biyagama is closed due to floods . They have made the announcement. No idea about the degree of damage if any.

I saw gas cylinders of Laughs were floating on water.

And how about poultry farms of our threee poultry companies.

Plantation companies also must have affected. Globally, if we see more natural disastrous such as earthquakes and other serious climate changes, many insurance companies including re-insurance companies could affect badly and in some situation they can become bankrupt. In some countries, after earthquakes and some other issues some insurance companies went bankrupt and they were struggling to pay their customers fully and governments had to bail out (support) them. They are functioning today thanks to government bailouts.

More serious climate changes in globally means more risk for insurance companies. In addition, premium also will go up. It is wise to have common fund globally to face future unexpected events.

I think lolc n clc vehicle yard s located in wellampitiya area. This yard normally hv lot of siezed vehicles(around 500 units).surely these vehicles hv sme damage from floods.

Construction companies if not affected may get business boom in future.

Industrial Asphalts (ASPH) reported floods in their Peliyagoda yard. They were in losses this year , (2.36) for 9 months ending Dec15 against a profit of Rs.9.97 previous year. Last qtr loss was 8.92.

Yes construction companies will benefit. Firstly those who affected will need basic things such as medicine, clothes and foods etc. Then they will need things such as sand, cement and roof materials etc. In the short run, there will be demand for building materials, different type of food, medicines and clothes etc. Some listed companies should benefit in the short run due to demand for their products. In addition, there will be fresh strong demand for some products especially during second half of this year. Still I am studying some areas.

Power companies will generate more hydro power. Some food and trading companies also will benefit due to fresh demand. There will be opportunities in some manufacturing companies as well.
