Cargils to become food & beverage sector conglomerate

Cargils is on an acquisition drive. It has already become a F&B conglomerate.
One of the best stocks with very bright future. They are the no one of organize retailing, way above the close competitor.
With recent acquisition in FMCG, food and beverage sector, they have consolidated as the largest F&B conglomerate.

Valuation
I haven’t looked at the numbers closely yet. But, on the naked eye, its future looks bright.

They have a nice portfolio

They are no 2 spot in ice cream. With Kotmale , they offers a wide range of products in the dairy. They have islandwide reach. None of the other producers ( except CCC - they have yet to get thing in order) have this advantage

Busicut sector ahs lots of potential...with duopoly.

They have islandwide reach. That's they in FMCG marketing.

Beer segment was a vertual monopoly. they should bring couple of international brands. CARG is doing exactly what they supposed to do. I don't see anyof the other companies ( incl. HHL) doing something to expand their core competencies. Excellant long term call..

CARG is a good company. But isn't the price too expensive for a food and beverage company?
I think it's going at 40-50 PE ratio at the moment.

This is a share for the long haul. 1-2 years. But remember this is a premium company, so they can operate at much higher PE's that the smaller lesser known one's. look at SPEN & JKH

CARG deserve premium valuation and earninga from the recent acquisitions + synergies should be reflected in forcasted earnings. Our problem is none of these brokers do continous updates of companies. What we see in internatioanl markets , soon after corporate announcements /actions, they generally come up with new forectas. Our brokers are only interested in making the buck and talking nonsence. This industry is full lethergic individuals with good papar qualifications, hardly find any professional.

Nobody does here. There is no such practice. They are worried only about the buck they make - thats good for them - everybody play in the dark.

Its idle time for debt finance since the rates are low. No idea whether they may go for an issue. need to find more details.

if i am not mistaken they already paid the money for all three acquisitions, i think this they fund it by way of debt capital, anyway i am waiting to see the dec quarter results to check the financial position, also they will go further on acquisition's ( this is only opinion by seeing their few months actions ). so will try to find out what they are going to target and how they going to finance

These are the major expenses incurred or going to incur by the Cargills after 01.10.2010, on other than their ordinary course of business

Dividend Payment Date 07.02.2010 224,000,000 shares at cents 50 each will lead to an outflow of Rs. 112 Million SLR

As per the announcement made today with regard to purchase of McCallum Breweries Rs. 1,425 Million SLR,

On the purchase of Dinana Biscuits ( 24.11.2010 ) Rs. 350 Million SLR

Approximately Rs. 922 Million SLR on Kotmale Holdings Purchase & another Rs. 112 Mn SLR payable on acceptance made by other shareholders

Not sure whether they will acquire more in the future, so i am interesting to see their 31.12.2010 financial to check their Available cash balances & borrowing

All the members comments will be appreciated
