I am going to purchase shares for the first time through my online account within next 14 days.

I prefer medium term investment or long term investment.

I do not have any idea about current share status of companies or overall indexes of share market.

Please tell me about the current situation of ASI, MPI and other useful indexes. How can that situation affect share purchasing at the moment? To purchase, what are the ideal companies (for medium and long investment) at the moment which shares of them are down?

Thank a lot! I love you

Dear Gayani,

your following statement frightens me;

 " I do not have any idea about current share status of companies or overall indexes of share market "

please  consider the following;

the money you are going to invest is yours.

there for please study and understand the functioning of the CSE market for some time and then start investing. this is not a savings account or fixed deposit.

this forum is just a online blog, no one knows each other and all are strangers  , please do not rely much on it.

this is my very humble opinion to you.

thanks very much

Thanks a lot for your advice. I have already known the facts you told about. In the past few weeks, I have been reading online CSE articles, tutorials, and study guides, and now I have a fairly knowledge. I just now need concise answers to my questions. So that I can determine whether I have understood facts correct and how what I have learnt can be applied in the practical way, probably starting from a smaller amounts.
I appreciate if you can name some of companies (according to my questions), so that at the moment I can narrow information gathering of those companies and just soon invest some to really get the first experience. These days I am trying to analyze using cse.lk daily update market info. But I am not confident 100% that is alone adequate to invest. If you answer, I can compare what I am doing now right.

@ gayaniwasana,

...assuming that you are real and a female,

congratulations for your interest in this arena where most of young females reluctant to explore.

1/ 1. You can invest 100,000 and lose or gain - money wise.
2. Even you lose some amount it will teach you practical lessons to gain experience to earn millions in future.

2/ You must first to learn to get basic idea of shares using their actual asset value per share.
X may be a popular big name having big buildings everywhere , and Y can be a small player in same field but if X has issued millions of shares more than Y , then value of Y may go higher than X.
Similarly EPS and other ratios are there.

3/ People use Technical analysis also to get idea of trading prices.

4/ You can study history graphs and learn. http://markets.ft.com/data/equities/tearsheet/summary?s=VONE.N0000:CSE

We commandeered VONE few weeks ago and bought @ 20-21 . It was a good price. But last week it came down to 19.

It create a better value to grab that share. As I used only half of my allocation for VONE @ 21, I was able to get some more @ lower price.

HPWR is also safe at the moment and meant for mid term.
You can see graph of CSF and see it has reached bottom.
So if you like to take small risk , get some. Its asset value is 1/-
It may go either way. Coming report will show the direction.
At the moment no go for tea plantations. But tea selling people may get good future.
Observe Aluminium and grab some if the prices go down during next 6 months.
We are unable to predict the future of most industries due to ever changing policies.

Think 10 time he is cunningly post I think carefully about your money .
Don't follow anyone .
If you invest with cunningly people u will sell with out a reason.
Use your Brean  . I do not want your innocent money. I already  replied to u  above page. Thanks
