The despair has risen its head in this island in the indian ocean which the world used to call the pearl of the indian ocean. Various critics and analytics now are coming forward with their different political and economic theories blaming each other and each government we had and have.
The criticism itself has proven the soullessness of our nation. This was evident when the special parliamentary debate started and each MP was clamoring against each other and even sometimes the highest ranks who were directly responsible for the failure were not honest, humble, selfless and fearless to take respoinsibility and accountablity for the attacks.
The defence secretary, PM, president and ministers were showing their shamelessness beyond anybody's worst nightmares in front of the entire world when talking to international media. The media men went speechless upon hearing these talks and I wonder why they did not commit suicide after listening to these sri lankan officers.
When a thought process is carried out to see how our people and leaders became irrensponsible and unaccountable to this extent, I saw the breakdown and loss of soul of our society.
Nation of No Ownership
Most of the people in the society is not willing to bear the ownership for their actions, as an example a person who consumes a chocolate in sri lanka, is he ready to carry the wrapper of the chocolate till he reaches a proper garbage disposal place/ bin or is he going to dispose the wrapper by the road where he consumed the chocolate. Most just throw away the wrapper despicably.
Here the sri lankan loses his soul, he loses his character, as he shows he is not ready to take the ownership of his actions. He is not ready to bear the stress he should bear due to lack of character and personality.
He just becomes a nincompoop and ruins his character due to lack of discipline.
This applies when a Sri Lankan breaks road rules, when he dims his headlight to indicate the police is ahead, when he bribes schools to send their children to preferred schools. We can see such numerous despicable activities of Sri Lankans which indicates their soullessness.
SOULLESS PEOPLE ELECT SOULLESS LEADERS
The above type of soulless people with no character and ownership naturally elect leaders who suits themselves. This act of non ownership was proven in the recent terrorist attack.
I prefer not to compare our people with people of advanced societies as it has been a frequent occurrence.
HOW WE BECOME ADVANCED NATION WITH SOULLESS PEOPLE
We should not even think we would become an advanced and developed nation with a bunch of irresponsible and non-accountable people like ours.
If we need to become a developed nation, we need to show and display character and ownership in each and every act we do. This is required even when we eat, use washrooms, have sex, walk on the road, dispose garbage and almost all the things we do. Integrity should be the theme and perfection is the thing we all should strive.
FROM A REACTIVE TO PROACTIVE NATION
Despair comes to us after the catastrophic incident and we show the stone age reactive nature of our soulless nation to the world. We begin to think we have failed and we ask internationals to bring support even to go to toilet. We mentally get the emotional breakdown and tend to accept the defeat. Here we as a nation need to refer to OSHO's books of wisdom and see the real meaning of defeat and how humans rise from shambles.
Being reactive opens doors of despair. As a nation of lost character, Sri Lankans most of the time discourage proactive wisdom with humiliation. This is common in general society and in corporate circles as well. The only proactivity which all of us go after is the primitive horoscope, burn the horoscope today to protect your character.
Advanced learn areas like risk analysis and preparation for disaster is not even considered as critical. Disaster recovery is a thing we do almost everyday due to negligence.
If you are a citizen with a soul or you want to become, you are not supposed to be reactive, rather proactive and encourage proactive behavior of people. This is enormous character building and inculcating ownership.
EVERYTHING FREE AND BEGGIN BOWL MENTALITY
This is another area which people ruin their character. How many times we give dana and prevent people from standing on their own? Dansal and all other subsidies like free education free health all has contributed to dilute the concept of ownership and personality building in all Sri Lankans.
Almost all of them has misunderstood concept of fundamental rights and freedom as well due to everything free concept. The entire nation has become a bunch of slaves on their own. They all wait something might fall to their begging bowl tommorrow and politicians knowing this using people for their advantage but in the end polticicians themselves will get trapped in their own conspiracy.
RESPECT EACH OTHER: WHERE IS IT?
I am thinking how we do not respect in society each other in a society where we even respect to our father and mother by laying on the floor. Today, non of our people are humble enough to accept their mistake and they all pass the buck. Even though 70% are buddhists almost all has become selfish and does not abide by rule of law.
Thinking better to create a nation of laws rather than creating nation of spiritual guidelines. The spiritual society has failed in the Sri Lankan society.
With this heinous soullessness, Sri Lankans should not even think to become a great, advanced and developed nation with a smart society. I wrote these few words as I thought this may be the right time. We have not changed from feudal stage still as our marriage ads still mentions about the caste and with such irresponsible and low quality acts of still considering caste in marriage will bring communal and territorial clashes and catastrophes from time to time and we will repent result of such acts till the time our people build their responsible character and inject ownership into their each and every activity from the time they are born to time of death.
