I'm interested in knowing alternative investment methods. Like investing in gold and other means and how to do them. Unfortunately Seylan bank has stopped opening new accounts for 'Gold heart' customers. Guys please advise.

You question is a broad topic. What are you really look at?

Options ( am not saying all below are good but just answering your question)

a) real estate ( property)
b) FD's
c) ForEX market
d) possibilities of investing in other Foriegn share markets ( once the Central bank implements to so called relaxation of
e) shart your own business ( farming, agricultural etc)
f) investments in collectible ( need proper knowledge)

Tx for your reply. I'm not a big investor. Just a starter. I have already invested in the share market. I'm looking at something small for a beginner like me. how does the Forex market works?

Forex, I heard some problems related to credibility. Some have left the country after initiating a firm, some thing like that. Bit skeptical. This is only a personal opinion.

I have no time to do some other business, Stock market is some thing I can find time to do online investments.

As a big investor ,you better go for tourism side. When you consider huge projects like vaillibel one. I think definitely there will be good future for tourism. At the moment I bought a new toyota Hi-ace van and used for transport tourists. You will get a decent gain and from the income I pay lease. Finally you will get the van.Isn't it a good investment for u?

If you are interested investing in the power sector. There are few opportunities available to invest in the sector. There are projects available from 300kW to 4.5 MW capacities. The investments will be in the range pf 70Mn - 800Mn. These are long term investments whereas it may take 1 - 3 years commission the project.

You will be able to leverage the financing with 60%-70% debt. You can either develop these projects individually or with a consortia of investors.

Typically for these projects simple pay back is around 3-4 years and the IRR is around 30%
