Its possible some Funds who have invested in China may withdraw and look for other markets.. Virus hit on Chinese economy is BIGGER than thought..

This could be good opportunity for CSE.

But have we seen any sign of big buying in CSE last couple of weeks?

Infact u can say i am cautiously optimistic. Valuewise CSE is at rock bottom. But Funds and Big guys keep waiting. Thats the issue with CSE now. Without Big funds and lot of retailers market cannot sustain any upward journey.. It will jump up 50 points, fall 40 points etc...

They are not sure about new Govt, their economic policies and also their ability implement rule of law - unlike in 2010-15, where some of their friends were allowed to play fool.

GR set to launch deregulation drive.
Sadly Most of his reforms will be post GE. ANC said budget to be presented in April very business friendly.
I wisH UNP unselfishly gives us opportunity to have new government in place before New Year.

Feb 06, Colombo:

Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa met with the Chinese Ambassador Cheng Xueyuan this afternoon (February 06) and assured that Sri Lanka stands in solidarity with China during the coronavirus epidemic crisis.

During the meeting, the President on behalf of the Sri Lankan government and people as a gesture of goodwill gifted a consignment of Ceylon black tea to China to fight the epidemic.

The Ambassador briefed the President on the latest situation of the epidemic coronavirus status and the containment plans and emphasized that China has resolutely adopted a series of powerful measures in the whole country.

“We have the determination, confidence, and ability to win the battle to prevent and control the epidemic,” he said.

President Rajapaksa, recalling that he had studied at Wuhan University, has said that he has a special affection for the people in the province and paid close attention to the epidemic.

The President said he wrote a letter to President Xi Jinping expressing sincere condolences and firm support to the Chinese people on behalf of the Sri Lankan people.

“I also instructed the Sri Lankan government and all sectors of society at the parliament and cabinet meetings to actively respond and cooperate with the Chinese embassy in Sri Lanka to prevent and control the epidemic,” he said.

The Sri Lankan President and the Chinese Ambassador also exchanged views on topics such as cooperation in fields of common interest.

Secretary to the President Dr. P.B. Jayasundera and Senior advisor Lalith Weeratunga were also present at the discussion.

First Sri Lankan coronavirus (COVID-19) patient in the country has been identified last night (10), the Director General of Health Services Dr. Anil Jasinghe has said.
A media release issued by the President’s Media Division (PMD) today mentioned that this patient is a 52-year-old tour guide who had worked with a group of Italians.
According to reports he is currently being treated at the Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH) in Angoda.
Inspections have been launched to identify the individuals that this patient has had contacts with and the places where the tourist group accompanied by him had travelled to, the PMD’s release said further.
Speaking to Ada Derana, the Chief Epidemiologist of the Ministry of Health Dr. Sudath Samaraweera stated that the preliminary test conducted on the patient has tested him positive for the virus.
In the meantime, the government says that there is a risk of coronavirus being spread in the country and has appealed to the general public to render their maximum support to the preventive measures that are in place.
The PMD’s release further stated that the government has launched proper measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the island. The passengers who arrived in the country from Italy, South Korea and Iran were sent for 14-day quarantine starting from yesterday (10).

On Tuesday, CNN's Manu Raju asked President Donald Trump why he hadn't taken a coronavirus test given his potential exposure both at the Conservative Political Action Conference last month and with two members of Congress who had direct contact with an individual who has tested positive for COVID-19.
Here's the President's response:
"I don't think it's a big deal, I would do it, I don't feel any reason -- I feel extremely good."

Trump then added that he has "no symptoms, no anything."
What the actual hell? As anyone who has watched even five minutes of cable TV over the last few weeks knows, feeling good or even "extremely good" and showing "no symptoms, no anything," is not evidence that you don't have coronavirus.

On arrival visa has been put on hold for tourists arriving at the Katunayake International Airport for the time being according to a communique from the state information office. This comes in the wake of the first Corona case detected domestically when a Srilankan tour guide who had accompanied some Italian tourists was found infected with COVID 19. The island nation has also imposed a 14 day quarantine period for visitors arriving from abroad as a preventive measure.

Yes, we are well known for our habit of closing the stable door after the horse has bolted. Anyway, better late than never. People should also be more considerate toward those affected without shunning them.

Two admitted to Polonnaruwa Hospital on coronavirus suspicions

Two persons have been admitted to the Polonnaruwa hospital on the suspicion of having contracted the novel coronavirus, stated the Hospital Director.

A person from the Kandakadu quarantine center and another person on a pilgrimage to Somawathiya have been hospitalized in this manner.

The patients had been admitted to the hospital this morning (12).

Reportedly, both patients are Sri Lankans who had arrived in the country from Italy.

The patient on the pilgrimage to Somawathiya had returned to Sri Lanka before March 10 and had tripped around the country visiting several places.

The two patients are to be transferred to the Infectious Diseases Hospital (IDH) in Angoda, stated Ada Derana reporter.

Meanwhile, health services have requested individuals returning from Italy, South Korea and Iran before March 10 to self-quarantine in order to assist contain the spread of the virus.

A discussion is currently underway to determine whether all schools in the island should be temporarily shut down to contain the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus).
The decision of the Ministry of Education is set to be announced at 2 pm this afternoon

There's talk about the Chinese nationals being allowed into the country without having to go thru quarantine. If that is the case, there's no point in closing down the schools and taking other precautionary measures. Minister of health and the other big shots keep mum about these accusations. Where are we heading?
