Does this include broker firms and their research reports too ?

research based manipulation is much bigger than the post/vedio based manipulation... Financial literacy is a must if you want to invest in CSE..

If they investigate and go after you tubers, WhatsApp/Viber groups, Facebook groups etc which discuss and give advice on stocks then it’s a violation on freedom of expression. None of the advice given is a buy or sell recommendation. It’s merely going through fundamental and technical analysis and sharing ones opinion. If that is going to be investigated or silenced then we should question our democracy.
While NP tweets this msg he also gave some advice on DIPD on his Twitter today!!!

The CSE earn from every trade as commission they should have to monitor carefully any wrong doings through proper surveillance system in regular basis specially big fish not sprats

there’s no one to catch the big manipulators. Going after small fish. Newcomers at least learn a thing or two about companies and how to do analysis through social media. And most of these investors are small time investors. The real issue for Big fish is that when small fish creates a rally their plans get disrupted. Now the Big fish are trying some scare tactics.

Having said above, it is also true some forums people just give false target prices without any backing. But that’s how it is and investors need to judge what their reading and learn to take good guidance.

What NP intended was that there are so many channels promoting certain stocks without any fundamental analysis or backing, so new investors are getting caught in trends and losing money. (also big shots don't like information to be easily accessed by the public) there are certain channels who buy stocks and then promote among their audiences and then sell and cause large volatility in prices. So that's what SEC will be needing to monitor.

I do not necessarily agree with this.

Though we can't rule out the possibility of research-based manipulations as well, the gravity of the same is much less than that of "Twitter/blog/youtube/word-of-month/rumor based manipulations", due to a number of reasons;

1. Research published by a reputed institution such as stockbrokers firm/independent research firm

2. Always included, numbers and assumptions considered in arriving whatever the recommendation made.

3. They track the stock under coverage and revise recommendations where necessary specifying the facts considered for such revision (new information available/change of assumptions etc.)

4. Is their targets/recommendations are missed quite frequently that indicates the quality of the research or research team and lose credibility of the institution (which lead their clients moving away ....loss of business)

However, the issue here is inadequate research done by broker firms opening an avenue for "Twitter/blog/youtube/word-of-month/rumor based manipulations".

Now, most investors use online platforms to execute transactions without much help from advisors appointed by the broker firms...but pays the same %of commission for each transaction. So, it is the broker firm's responsibility for producing research for at least 50% of stocks listed in CSE. (not 50% market capitalization)

The question is how NP and the public didn't know about SEC plans and only CEOs of the broker firms know what's SEC is going to do.

Why SEC share information only with the broker firms ?
Is there a secret channel between SEC and broker firms on how to handle the manipulations ?
