I'm new to cse.
So please some one can tell me
WHAT IS DIVIDANCE?
hOW WE KNOW WHAT COMPANIES GIVING DIVIDANCE EACH DAY?
wHAT SHOULD WORK TO GET DIVIDANCE?
CAN I SELL MY SHARES BEFORE GIVING DIVIDANCE?
HOW THEY PAY ME?
CAN I SELL MY SHARES TAKING DIVIDANCE FOR MARKET PRICE?

WHAT IS DIVIDANCE?
Is a kind of profit which a share holder get from the company ,it depends on the company total profit and some will pay and some will not .

hOW WE KNOW WHAT COMPANIES GIVING DIVIDANCE EACH DAY?
if you can check the cse.lk website and its weekly and daily reports you will be able to find which companies are giving devidents and on when.
and if you want to get information on company basis you can search on their announcements in cse.lk
here is an example of dividend announcement

If you want to have the dividends you should hold thatr share on XD datr . if we consider the above ex you have to hold the shares on XD date , Though you sell them on XD date even you will get dividends

CAN I SELL MY SHARES BEFORE GIVING DIVIDANCE?
You can sell at any time if there are buyers

HOW THEY PAY ME?
In my experience they will send you a cheque to your corespondent address

CAN I SELL MY SHARES TAKING DIVIDANCE FOR MARKET PRICE?
i cant understand the question perfectly what u mean. normally there will be a slight drop after the XD date

This might be what he meant..

In cse normally when the dividend announcement is made the prices go up a bit, and also in the date which the dividend is due prices go up more. If you are someone buying the share bcos of dividend, you'll try to buy on that due date and sell on the xd date. On the XD date prices go down as many are trying to sell.
So you might loose more than what you got from the dividend, if you are trying to do something like that. (buy high on div date and sell low on xd date) Smile

Just go to cse.lk and read the dividend anouncements made by variuos companies.
U will understand what he has meant.
