The SL government has indicated that it will give 49% of the ECT to the Indian ADANI company to develop the ECT for a 1 BILLION US Dollar investment. I am amazed why the Government has not explored the possibility of securing these funds from the Srilankan community itself and keep the ownership for Sri Lanka alone. The 1 Billion investment is only 200 Billion in Sri Lanka Rupees assuming a 1 USD equals 200 rupees. There are many Sri Lankan HNW individuals who would be only too happy to make this investment on behalf of the motherland. Alternatively we could float a new company and sell shares valued at Rs. 1000 each for a minimum investment of Rs. 100,000 to TWENTY THOUSAND investors. This will raise the needed Rs. 200 Billion from within Sri Lanka and save this ECT ownership to be forever owned by Sri Lanka. Mathematically all it needs is taking the R value for the Face Book membership or Corona Virus R value examples all you need is one person to recruit five other investors to reach the 20000 investor target. Surely in Sri Lanka we can get these 20,000 investors.

It's geopolitics. We will have to get India involved in this if not we will lose it all. RW's deal was better though.
