I was not so sure if it was the concern phase when the market was declining in the lest week of June! So I posted this,

Still I'm confused to decide at which phase we are now in? Certainly not the Denial cuz many have recognized this as a bear market, but is the concern phase starts now, or is it the end? For me it's more like the start of the concern phase as many hang on and others buy as for them it's discounted!!

During this phase the fundamental news significantly worsens and investors realize that that a bear market is in force. This is the phase of concern.During this phase many investors sell, but others hang in, feeling that the bad news is discounted and that a bottom is near.

At this point the market may rally again as many observers feel that the decline has ended and that a new bull market has begun. This rally, also characterized by weak breadth and low volume, subsequently fails and heads down.

But many were denying this in general saying, it's the credit clearance, channel 4 and stuff so denial phase continued! Finally, I'm pretty sure that concerned phase just started in this bear market, look at the fall today and look at the posts popping out in the forum.

Next phase is capitulation phase, but it might take some time, but before that we might see a turn around for a small period may be.

Credit goes out to Tubal for bringing this up - "Generally bear markets go through three psychological phases; denial, concern and capitulation."

Interesting Godswen. I too personally believed that after the war the rise was too steep.. and i knew that market forces will sort it out and bring it level.
This whole Bear phase is interesting. So in this capitulation phase are we going to see sharper decline of share prices.. is this what happens. Very interested in your explanation Smile

very true for the next few weeks/months god forbid years we can expect sharp falls in the prices of all the overvalued shares in the market right now i think this is a good thing for the cse ... it will teach new comers and clueless speculators (even ive made big mistakes) to learn from our mistakes and hopefully in the future history wont repeat itself

informative! can you explain to me how this works... Now from the concerned phase we move on to this Capitulation phase. So here we expect sharper fall in prices of all the shares... and panic selling sends it down further, also investors could sell there shares at a loss expecting to buy the very same shares at a lower price... this worsens the situation.
And how will this all recover one fine sunny day...! also read in another post of yours about the 1930 s depression.. well we are due for one... business cycle isnt it.

Concerned? I don't think so.

There'll be many green days because any market can't go down all the time. And then punchi bandas will start buying overvalued stocks like crazy expecting they'll restore to over over overvalued past levels. And then it'll drop breaking new records again. And then they'll blame the SEC. The cycle continues.

Sri Lankans have a memory capacity of a hamster. LTTE knew this.
