Since the market is now positive, it is good to analyze plantation sector as well in order to explore the oppotunities for trading/investment. Though certain sectors such as Finance,Investment,Trade and Manufacturing have already started a run investors' attraction on plantation sector is yet to come. Good work raja. i also hope plantation shares will do well in the coming weeks.HOPLs XD date falls on tomorrow,so it might pass 70.Hope ELPL will declare a good dividend soon. Only worry is the tea production has dropped in June,according to tea board.

good to see the sector. I think the valuation done last year financial record. I think reason wage increase in the plantation have impact to the their profitability. Any once have idea how impacting that wage increase

Thank u rijayasooriya,windi5 and sajeethk. I agree with your points. Drop of tea production and wage issue would affect the profitability. But there are some companies with major contribution to the profit is coming from rubber or oil farm.For instance larger potion of profit of WATA is from oilfarm and No. 2 is rubber.In ELPL too rubber and oilfarm contribute a lot to profit than tea. According to rijayasooriya's above post PE in this sector is 10. We have to consider all these facts before taking a decision. So we have a choice and need to select the best.

Yes brother, KOTA and KGAL own more rubber plantations than tea. Rubber price is still good and it has a good future also. World demand for rubber is growing fast mainly with rapid development in India and China. HOPL,ELPL and NAMU too own large extents of rubber and they have oilfarm as well( KGAL too)So I belive ELPL,HOPL and NAMU will start run soon.

Small correction windi5 XD means people who buy on that date will not receive the dividend. Normally i have observed that on XD date prices fall more than the dividend rate. So on Monday most probably HOPL will lose Rs. 4~5

yes anything with X means you wont get anything for purchasing on that date.

You better change the broker immediately..
please search XD date in the forum this issue has been discussed before many times.

How ever if you sell on XD date (The shares you bought before XD) then still your eligible for dividend. Not the other way around.

This the problem windi5. Even our brokers don't know the rules. These are the guys advising us on share trading. As xhora very clearly said XD means from that date Ex Dividend and if you buy shares on or after that date you will not entitle for dividend.I have lot of experiance and normaly on the XD date I sell my shhares because I know that price would come down quicly.You have to change your broker immediately.

Your broker is wrong. Please go to the website of the relevant security in the CSE and look under announcements. There you will get confirmation on the X- dates.
