How do I invest in foreign stock markets?

Why are Sri Lankans more interested in investing in foreign stock markets? The foreign stock markets are very volatile especially these days and any event happening to any major country in the world would impact markets in USA, UK, Germany, France, Singapore, Hong Kong, South Korea, Japan etc. If you want to trade in these markets you need to know how these markets function and posses up to date information that impact these markets as market growth is based on solid financial data. Also you need to have a solid knowledge of the companies that trade in these markets as well as the financial products offer by these markets or you can lose all your money. Settlement should be done in T+3 days and based on the amount of funds deposit with the bank/broker a limit will be provided to invest/trade.

Sri Lankan market is much less riskier than foreign markets and can provide higher returns for a another two three years, if I were you I would stick to CSE.

@ Kushan87

There are so many on line trading facilities are available such as Etrade, typically offer international trade services.
Remember there charges are high compare to the trading charge in Srilanka.
Few days back I contacted TD Waterhouse in London to find the possibility to open an account from Srilanka.
The answer was yes, we can open an account.
They asked me to download the application form and fill all the relevant details and send back to them by post.
(We need to provide our address and bank details in Srilanka.)
After opening the account you can transfer the fund to start on line trading.
If you have a Bank Debit or Credit card then you can transfer the fund to your account easily.
I'm not sure whether we need to get special permission from Cental Bank.
