You have taken the nine month's EPS...so if you annualize...the EPS should be about 47.50
So the market value should be 47.50 X 15 = 712.50....and if the Finance/Banking sector run starts HNB & SEY) it will be really worth.... Also one of the emerging companies...

browns is not an emerging company. it's pretty old one. i think 500 is a stretch. they sold a large chunk of HNB shares through Browns investments and i get the feeling that their profits are partly that. I'm saying this because they are only taxed 79mn. that's way too low. corporate income tax for 1.3 bn profits should be around 240-300mn. from the looks of it 350 seems a good bet. beyond that is dangerous IMO

Yes this quarter report is quite good in terms of eps . but as mono explained their tax payment quite low which can not figure out until audited reports.
still I think their annualized operational EPS can estimate at least 20 imo.
so if you take sector PER for 20 then can value around 400.

Its not HNB. But Selan. the disposal value is 1241m. we dont see any announcement related to HNB on cse.
If we deduct that 1241, the operational profit is around 60m.

Theres something hidden in their reports cant figure out why the Tax is so low, I've not seen any company making a big profit contributing a low tax like this.. Guess Mono is right.. We cannot exactly say what has happen until the audited results are out.. as per the looks not safer beyond 350-380..

The income statement has Rs 2.83Bn in "Other Income". This may consist of capital gains not taxable and which could have contributed to such low taxes.

May be we have to wait for their annual report to see the exact picture.

BRWN would have further advantage if banks like HNB have a run after the recent developments.

Ruwa925 don't be too optimistic.. Don't think that far.. 1st let BRWN achieve 350 & 400 mark.. then we can think about 500 Very Happy

don't forget that red market days will come on end of feb due to credit clearence..
So if brwns hitting 500, first market needs to settle down on mid march..

I also hv browns.. it's true that it values more than 500. but i personally don't believe it will hit 500 before mid march although it's capable.. Cool

Agreed with smallville.
Also they sold some HNB shares to Mr Captain in the last quarter. That why the huge profits.
But anything is possible in CSE. Its a small crazy world.

Yes, 2/3 of Brown's after tax profits are from Other incomes which could be as a result of disposal of investments [HNB & SEY], but their revenue has grown by 49% and Gross profit is up by 164% compared to the same period of 2009, so the company is on track of growth. However the final quarter result will reveal the exact picture.

The tax component is low, coz the profit on sale of shares are exempt from Tax, and as per their audited financials of 2010 the tax component is just 120 Mn on a net profit of 1,268 Mn.

Also Brown's investment arm coming up in a big way..so it might be a good pick

Correct me if I am wrong Smile

It is true that BRWN is a solid strong company that has been diversified in many sectors but when it come to the share prices dont be too much optimistic entering at the right time and exiting at the margin you decided when you enter is the best thing
of course you might miss a some money sometimes that you can earn additionally if u hold it after the margin u have decided crossed but it is too risky to play with the odds

and my dear friend as guys pointed out here if u use forward PE please use quarter EPS dont user 9 months accumulated EPS
