I tried with DDE server method to add DirectFN data to Amibroker.

I put the servers as MRegionalDdeServer

and other lines
OPEN - 'BOLKCSE~{ticker}~0'!'16'*1
HIGH - 'BOLKCSE~{ticker}~0'!'17'*1
LOW - 'BOLKCSE~{ticker}~0'!'18'*1
LAST - 'BOLKCSE~{ticker}~0'!'4'*1

although it says plugin connected, there's no data update. Can anyone help me on this?

I wanted to do a detailed guide but this days im too busy with office work and i dont think il be able to finish it, so here is the guide to update amibroker with directfn live data in short

The method is to use excel as a bridge and to update amibroker via DDE as the direct linking will not work properly

steps are below

Step1 -> Configure Excel bridge
1. DirectFN should be running all the time, Open a excel sheet save it with some name
2. Go to watch list -> cse -> normal, select all
3. Right click -> Edit -> Link with headings
4. Paste it on excel, now you will notice the prices will be udpated automatically (if it dosent something is wrong and check the above steps)

Step2 -> Link excel with amibroker

use the guide on the following location, its not mine, but i used this as my referance, thanks goes to the orginal author

My setup was on windows 2003 server, i remote desktop it in to the server and use it, as i already had a analytics database running,
and i think on windows 7 u will have to give permissions to link the excel dde , im not sure, so if you are using windows 7 u will have to sort out the link permission issue as well

when i have time, i shall write a detailed guide with screen prints

When I do as it says in the guides, I get the following error window.

What should I do?

is it windows 7, should be a security issue (even the err msg says access violation)

Finally by clicking "Ignore" it started working.

But the issue is the volume keeps increasing even without putting any value to it.

Open, High, Low & Last works fine. Only issue is the Volume.

Can you give a solution?

Also do we have to edit the cell name for the whole workbook manually??

i got data toe xecle nut cant connect them with ambi broker?

Pls post a screenshot of your "Database Settings > Configure" window in AmiBroker..

I tried above posted methods and whole lot of methods posted in internet without no success. My problem is Excel can't connect to AmiBroker as a DDE server.. The plugin status in AmiBroker always stays as "WAIT" when I give server as "Excel" in configuration window.. If I put "MRegionalDdeServer" as the server (DirectFN server) in configuration it gets connected (when DFN is running) and obviously not updating tickers...

pls post a screen of your configuarion window that worked for you...

I'm using Excel 2010 with Amibroker 5 and tried with Excel 2007 also...

First you have to name the cells accordingly.

I named the Last price cell as ticker_L
Last volume as ticker_V
data is the name of my excel sheet

Since cell name does not accept `N part in the name, you have to prepare a new excel (other than the DirectFN linked excel file) which update last price & last volume from the linked file.
