Dear Friends,
My broker highly recommended CFLB as a hidden gem and I purchased 5000 shares on Friday.
Do you know anything about this share?
Thanks.

It cannot be due to their regular income will might not change by drastic amounts. It has to be some portfolio or land re-evaluation issue. I think EPS wise LCEY might be more ( from income only) as it is the groups cashcow.
However , if the land re-evaluation takes place ( Mono and I had this discussion before) it might add significant one-time amount to this quarter EPS. What I am not sure is how the market will re-act to this one-time addition ( though it would be significant it is happens) as it already increased a lot . Yes one director purchased aroudn RS 360 and another direcctor sold around Rs 375. Going with past quarter earning this share now is on the high side as it has more than doubled in the last 2 weeks. But if this one time gain is huge it has further upside potential. Am also wodnering to re-enter or not. I had some shares but sold all as I thought it was overvalued. Then one director bought and other sold.

Might be best to see whats happening with the financials. Did you broker tell you the reason for highly recommening it and did he say anything about short term upside?

CFLB has many good holdings under it as subsidiaries LCEY, EBCR, MARA, MULL, KOTA , SIGV, CFI, CFT etc and fairly big holdings of over 100 of quoted shares in all sectors.

It has many unquoted investments including 5 million CBL (Munchee)

It has continued in its income growth past many years and as you know the market value of its quoted holdings is increasing heavily.

Chinwi, Econ, slstock,

My broker did not tell an exact answer about Colomo Fort Land and he told me it is very potential.

Please see today Sunday Time(Financial Times) Dammika Perera going to aquire 51% of Hayles.
Already he has 30% and he is going to purchase balance 21% from Colombo Stock Exchange. It will rocket.(I do not encourage anyone to buy.Just Provide the Information.)
Please do study and invest.

There is alot of talk in this forum about CFLB showing an EPS of 60. I still don't know where this is coming from?

The land revaluation is the attractive one. with only 32 million shares the book value can easily shoot the roof and this is prime real estate. with the fort project coming up expect the land there to further appreciate quite a bit

Guys,

Did any of you take a look at SINI. They did some re-evaluation and last quarter and EPS was 39.42!
But the share is still trading at Rs 180 .

So am still contemplating the effect it will have on CFLB even if they show this tremedous EPS.

As Mono said in Land and Property we go by the book value yes. But as this is a diversified how will a huge one time EPS react in the market is the question ? But ofcouse if the revalued EPS is thumping beyond belief and if there is a push by the big players it will go up by a lot. The share more than doubled recently so will this go up by a lot in short term is the question?

But totally agree that CFLB is a good comapny to hold for medium to longer term due to their wide exposure as Chinwi said.

Don't buy SINI based on that EPS. They wrote up their SINS holding to market value (which I think at the time was around 240). Idealy they should write that down to the current market price which is 205. Which means massive loses this quarter, but they are unlikely to do that.

The best stock in the Singer family is SINS. The other Singer companies listed are SFIN and REG

This takeover was something that I've been following very closely for quite sometime. The highest price Mr Perera paid was Rs 380 not sure if he would want to go beyond that at least in the short term. He will first wait to see how much he can collect with the mandatory offer. Any foreign funds that might be sitting on large parcels would take that route, since it's easier than selling on the market.

This news broke on thursday, I expected the price to rise on friday, but looking at the order book it was very clear that there were a lot of people willing to get out at the 400 level. So I didn't buy any.

Key is to stick to sound companies even thought the temptation will be to jump on to any thing that becomes green, REFRAIN from doing this as u are bound to burn ur hands severely. CFLB type it inthe search bar and you will get discussions for and against this share. Be patient try to trade within ur limits and sell when profit presents it self. Some Companies to look at

LOLC/LLUB/RCL/DIST/JKH/SLTL

Since you are new get in to some IPO's as well....read daily business reports/forums/

Enjoy
