Sri Lanka Insurance Awards Night honours ‘Best of the Best’

The 2011 Sri Lanka Insurance Awards Night, felicitated two key categories of excellence, The best of the best achievers in sales and long standing service personnel.

The event was held on 28th November 2011 at the Bandaranaike Exhibition hall, with the distinguished participation of SLIC Chairman Gamini S Senarath, the Board of Directors and the top management.

Senior advisor to the President and Minister for Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa graced the occasion as the chief guest of the evening. The Felicitation Ceremony was segregated in to Sri Lanka Insurance Star Awards, awarding sales excellence and Sri Lanka Insurance Harasara awarding long standing service loyalty. Over 700 attended this year’s ceremony.

The day belonged to the sales people who have outperformed and outshone the rest, to the men and women who have proved their mettle through sheer dedication, hard work and clear pursuit of their goals – the best in the insurance industry. The event also belonged to staff who have toiled with loyalty for over 25 years contributing their best to the build the SLIC to what it is today. The night was celebrated on a star studded theme with much glamour and grandeur, featuring many unique entertaining acts that kept the audience spell bound.

The star awards night saw 308 insurance advisors and team leaders being awarded for their excellent sales performance. They were all awarded on the basis of achieving the set sales targets and standards. The second place achievers were also invited to witness this magnificent evening to applaud the achievements of their colleagues.

Best Regional Sales managers, Team leaders and Advisors were recognised under their respective business category that is Life and Non Life Insurance business, with special Certificates and Cash awards. The best of the best in this Category was presented with an attractive plaque in addition to the cash awards and certificates.

The Harasara Awards, awarded 9 Staff members for completing thirty five years of service and 11 was awarded for completing twenty five years of service. All awardees were presented with a personalized plaque, certificate and gold coins as a tribute towards their allegiance to Sri Lanka Insurance.

Speaking at the event the SLIC Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Mohan de Alwis voiced his appreciation and gratitude to the Sales Force and the long service award recipients who are the backbone of the Company, for their dedication and commitment towards taking Sri Lanka Insurance to its vision of being the number one Insurer in the country.

Chairman Gamini Senarath in his speech congratulated and expressed his appreciation on the dedication and commitment of all achievers and requested that all should align to take Sri Lanka Insurance to the pinnacle of the business world.

The Chief Guest for the evening, Senior advisor to the President and Minister for Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa in his keynote speech while commending on the performance of the achievers added that Sri Lanka Insurance is a beacon in the state sector and through efficient and proper governance has been able sustain the private sector dynamism the Company was briefly exposed to and also stated that Sri Lanka Insurance is a key player in the post war economic development of this country

Sri Lanka Insurance, the largest government owned composite insurance provider in Sri Lanka is the first insurance company to have been assigned a global rating for financial stability AA (lka) from Fitch Ratings, London which is an assurance of the company’s long term financial sustainability. Sri Lanka Insurance is the only insurer who was awarded RAM Ratings AAA for its ‘long term claim paying ability’, which further affirms the corporation’s capacity to meet financial obligations to policyholders. The Corporation has also been awarded ISO 9001:2000 certification for correct governing and operational procedures in line with accepted global standards.
