What do you think.

We saw large foreign out flow during last few weeks. They sell shares of some blue chips companies including market heavy weight JKH. At the same time we saw companies like DCSL increase their holding in JKH.

We saw some state fund managers and some institutional fund managers doing some silly mistakes.
Ex Laugh bought GRAN at 200
EPF bought SPEN at 225
There are lot more.. you can add..

Any examples for such wrong readings of the market by foreigners..

Any idea for what kind of foreign participation is around CSE.. in which scale.. and from which countries..

I think DIST bought JKH shares at a very high price (Rs 218).To average their cost they may be buying JKH.if we calculate the capital loss DIST is having due to the Investment in JKH is more than Rs 1.Bn.If a company like DIST took such a very bad decision buying JKH at very high price , what to talk about EPF's investments.
But funds like EPF/ETF are going for long term investments rather than short term trading.even though they bought some shares at very higher prices , their investments as a whole may give a healthy capital gain.

May be countries like India ,Malaysia and some middle east countries are interested in CSE

I think promoting in Europe, USA, Japan, Singapore won't do any good. Only money wasted for the officials to go on trips.
See the breakthroughs in Japan. Japanese didn't buy stocks they bought debentures (with a guaranteed undisclosed income) and another company came to test their drugs and sell them here.
I think CSE should be promoted in countries like Sudan, Kenya, Somalia because you need greater fools.

good point..
Do we have such a company in CSE.. I can't remember...

In order to do that.. we should have a foreign company doing well in Sri Lanka..

I think our local players should can list IT compnies like Virtusa, MIT and IFS here.. I am not aware of any restrictions in regulations

Obviously foreigners u know why. Because they have the brain where it should be but we keep under our *** and keep sitting no it. The biggest joke is we fools buy the stock from the foreigners at a big price and sell it our local big fishes at a very low price in turn. What a pity....

Foreigners leaving the market because of uncertainty of market and inconsistency of government's and SEC's policies and regulations. nothing else.

Market is not overvalued now for them to leave. There are many solid stocks backed by strong fundamentals available them to buy at present market.

This is something i got to know from a top official.
SOME OF THE BROKERS WANT THE MARKET TO COME DOWN FURTHER.
Be very careful when this so called wild beasts (brokers) when they recommend to buy specially on credit

This is the ground reality down from the sky's, investments decisions cannot made from whims and fancies. Local investors everyday are influenced by the fairy tales and news, if there is good news in papers (created news) there are runs in the market.

Foreigners are less influenced by these kind of impulsive factors and more objective in decision making.

but Some Japanese funds are interested in some fundamentally sound stocks.
They proved it buying a big chunk of DFCC recently.
even if foreigners are going for gold ...etc..their could be a bubble also.

It is not an isolated incident of SEC or one person.

Good, according to your saying fools are 'buy and hold' stocks. Well I feel sorry for your thoughts.
Please go and refer the stock market history any where in the world, long time investors always gain substancial amount.
Remember substancial ,not huge, which is also more than above the inflation.
Greedy persons gain quickly and lost the amount due to their stupidity.
In the bear market period most of the so called investors/traders get upset due to high volatility.
You cannot change their attitude.

For me , with the info I get from my overseas contacts, this is not a inside problem.

If you see the global arena, CSE and the country is still better than many other places.

Global funds are selling whatever possible and collecting money or gold to face the next round of Western crisis. Many says it will be worst than 2009.
