The All Share Price Index dipped 96.3 points to close at 7,701.7 points (-1.2%), whilst the Milanka Price Index also dipped 44.4 points to close at 7,096.6 points (-0.6%).

The total turnover was LKR2,690.9 mn (USD24,290.4 k) vs.12-month average daily turnover of LKR2,723.6 mn (USD24,585.7 k) whilst the volume traded for the day was 77,318.6 k against the 12-month average daily volume of 91,810.0 k.

Top traded counters were Guardian Capital Partners (Rights) LKR409.6 (USD3,697.4 k, -99.4%) Commercial Bank LKR278.6 mn (USD2514.9 k, +1.0%), Lanka Floortiles LKR158.5 mn (USD1430.8 k, -2.2%), Sampath Bank LKR136.0 mn (USD1,227.7 k, -1.3%) and Asian Alliance Insurance LKR108.7 mn (USD981.2 k, 0.0%).

Market closed in red with increased institutional participation. Guardian Capital Partners (Rights) shed some ground during the day though the counter contributed for circa 17% of day’s turnover. Institutions were seen active in Commercial Bank where the counter saw near one million shares changing hands during the day. Further Lanka Floortiles and Sampath Bank saw renewed institutional and high-net worth interest whilst Asian Alliance Insurance also witnessed renewed institutional and high net worth participation. Further the counter saw circa 2% stake changing hands during the day.

Net outflow of foreign funds was seen during the day, where foreign purchases amounted to LKR152.0 mn (USD1,372.1 k), whilst foreign sales amounted to LKR440.2 mn (USD3,973.6 k).
