There are a number of reasons. Eg: credit clearing, IPOs and etc.

One important reason is the Carsons group. Carsons group dominating the entire market for more than 2 weeks now. Especially shares like WAPO. GOOD, CARS and BUKI determine the entire market. I personally believe that Carsons group is extremely over valued and need correction. The sad part is that Carsons group bring the entire market down including some very good under valued shares.

Do you think this is healthy for our market? Why don't SEC question the unusual price increase in WAPO as they questioned for GREG? What should be SECs role to protect the investors of our country?

100% agree with you
Regulators have not done anything regarding WAPO & its unusual movements.

In the mean time I always forget that this is SIRI LANKA. anything is possible Very Happy

There is a definite attempt being made to hammer down the prices of certain shares, possibly to trigger off panic selling. Prices will ultimately come to their true value. So, if you have shares that you KNOW are worth more than market price, do not sell them...

This is the only way small investors like us can beat the manipulators at their own game.

Market has its cycles. I think most of us were able to increase the value of our portfolios by over 90% from Mid December to Mid February because we invested in undervalued high growth stocks. Now people are taking profits. Also, investors are selling shares to finance IPOs and rights. Carson group is not the only overvalued stock in this market. Also, there are undervalued stocks (but I do not think this is the time to buy, as the market is still declining).
True, there are inefficiencies with irrational investors going after stocks without considering the fundamentals or technicals-- but this is what makes others take profits. If the market is red for a while, better to keep out and invest in good IPOs and rights. The bottomline is you cannot beat the market, you play by it to earn money. Conspiracy theories are good only for the deluded.

Jaya, it's not illegal or against the SEC act to be foolish. Those who bought MARA at 3+ are plain stupid. It's not a manipulation.

Yes there is a definite attempt to bring the prices down artificially....funny trades take place some at just 100 shares at ridiculous prices Evil or Very Mad ..... this is done to increase panic further and buy shares for some at bargain prices....the questions is who will come out of this with their hands burnt and who will survive to fight another day
