The main share index fell 0.58 per cent or 32.81 points to 5,456.27, lowest since 19 February.
“The longer it goes like this with low volume and little activities, the investors who stuck will start to sell off. That’s the worry we have in the retail side and we could see the market drift down below 5,000,” Stefan Juriansz, Technical Analyst at Bartleet Religare Securities in Colombo, said.

The Central Bank on Friday said it will lower its 2012 growth forecast of eight per cent to a figure no lower than seven per cent, and most likely will release the revised forecast with Wednesday’s monetary policy announcement.

?Does this mean that the bottom is yet to come. What action SEC has taken to improve their "new system" which one reason for current slowdown.

Thin volumes will do the trick. It is a matter of time.

Redbulls,

Yes , we understand that market can go down this way and get into a panic level. Also we agree that market was overvalue at one point and some corrections happened. The current situation and confidence is not good. When a solid trend was forming short term , with the new system introduction the volumes started going down. Thats is a fact. Previous day volume 3.7 Billion ( with crossing) next day onwards we know what happened. There it is game of numbers some people are playing with ASI. Who? And why ? We still see foriegn player has some interest. Local players a different story. Whether uptrend or down trend we seem to go to extremes.

At one time we had 500+ user logged in to this forum. Right now I see around 260. This is also a small indication of participation at CSE.

But the question is until how much should ASI deserve to drop further? What is real reason CSE deserves to go down drastically as some say to 4000 , 3000. What Market PE or ASI does CSE deserve to stabilize at. Especially considering MArch 31 results are aroudn the corner. I am not talking about a bull run , am talking about when will be these drops stopping and then range bound stabilization will happen.

If 5000-5500 will happen for next few months I will be happy.

Else as I mentioned below there will be blood bath. But why ?

We serious lack some self confidence, determination to meet and face challenges and plan to come out of temporary crisis ( geneva meeting, resolving LLRC etc, trade deficit.) Also these issue are temporariy and can be fixed over time with good foresight and thinking.

Looks like nobody has confidence with anybody in Sri Lanka. Maybe foreigner see something. Maybe thats why they were participating at CSE during these volatile situations. Sad story.

Thanks slstock! can't agree with you more (even though I don't have the guts to be bold and invest at this point).

Cheers!
