I have already applied for the Freelanka IPO. As far as I know it will be closed on Thursday or Friday. Please correct me If Im wrong.

Most probably This IPO will come to the market after UB & after 31st March, during this time you may be able to buy fundamentally sound blue-chips for the lowest price recorded in last 6 months. some said it will be traded 6-7 what do you think?

re: Free Lanka IPO, investors should maybe exercise some caution due to following reasons and evaluate investment carefully:

* Decline in rubber prices recently and plantation wage hike from April 2011 - Free Lanka has high exposure to plantations (and timber) at present

* Private placement of around Rs 1 billion was done at Rs 4.70 per share recently - no restriction on those shares being sold immediately once listed

* High retail portion of issue (50%) may reduce bank guarantee driven institutional over-subscription mania

* Negative sentiment surrounding plantation sector and broader stock market at present

Make sure you understand potential risks and rewards before investing in IPO. And compare with other available investment opportunities too.
