Expiration of tax free period, high cost of energy and the sky rocketing price of Soda ash might hit hard on glass profits.

Thank you for posting some sort of valuable analysis about a share . These days we see lot of people giving generalized ideas, internet copy-pastes etc.

Apart form your given data, I w'like to tell you GLAS has over 8 acres of bare land in Ratmalana - Borupana Road. [They shifted the factory to Horana and now wanted to cash the land.]
I saw their adv in newspapers recently. Still no news about finding a buyer. It will be a hard task actually.

If you re-value it in the books NAVPS will increase by 100% ( approx)
If they sold it, onetime EPS will be increased by about 3 Rupees.

මට මතක විදියට 5 බිලියන් වගේ. රත්මලාන පැත්තේ පර්චස් 1300 ක් ( අක්කර 8.5 x 160perch) වටිනාකම හදල බලන්න.

Even this is a onetime income they can settle all the loans (2.5 billion) and go forward in a strong way.

Another point:
We thought ever increasing fuel prices may eat the GLAS profits in next quarters and EPS may go down. Now some analysts say a barrel may go down to 60 $ in this year.

Already reported in March quarter. If $ drops more than march 31st then losses ( unrealised) can be a bit higher. But how much can the $ drop further. Rs 135-140? Will central bank do nothing if over Rs 140 ? Much higher 1$:Rs can effect economy badly in several sectors.

High time high energy utilizing companies look for alternative sources. TKYO is the leader in this aspect.

Although there will be some loss due to exchange, this is mitigated by
lower interest rates on $ loans and the increasing export sales .

Central Bank agreed to free float the dollar when asking IMF last tranches. Still oil is paid by liquidizing foreign reserves. To received next 400Mn oil bill must be paid by forex exported dollars. CB can either intervene or get the 400mn.
Government also targeting dollar to drop. That's why they don't reduce oil prices.

Glass converted their Rupee loans to Foreign currency some time back when Rupee was appreciating.
Since the Finance cost is mounting up ,as one member pointed out they may look at their real estate , cash it and settle their FCY loans.
For me Glass is attractive which dominates SL Market having more than 80% share
