They might not declare a dividend, instead they will try to use it to improve NDB?

Yes... IF the figures quoted by Sandstorm are correct, NDB (Group) will rake in a very significantly profit... more than Rs 80 per share.

I recommend discretion always. Do not rush to buy or sell shares based on unconfirmed rumors / hearsay.

That figure of $150mn may come from following article but it is a combined value and is a guess.

Aviva did not specify the countries it would exit in its announcement last week. Aviva’s South Korean investment in 2008 and its stake in the Sri Lankan company give it a combined value of about $66 million, and some estimate the deal would be worth about $150 million.

The source said that AIA Group Ltd , Prudential plc and Manulife Financial Corp would be the most likely bidders for Aviva’s stake in the Sri Lankan joint venture.

Can anybody explain me how NDB gets anything when somebody sells his stake to someone else?

( As per my knowledge Aviva is going to sell their holding to AIA) If I missed anything pl tell me

You hit the nail on the head. Is NDB also selling?

But on the other side, if a buyer is paying a higher price than trading for CTCE at CSE, then speculative short term uptrend can be seen. Also there might be a mandatory offer by the buyer> Hope this sale is happening and also buyer is paying a premium to current share price.

Details of the AIA deal (which is being speculated about) are not yet in the public domain, but NDB will make a profit only if they sell their stake.
@Chinwi: The other aspect to consider is whether NDB will have to mark their investments to market, as per IFRS...

the mutual joint venture agreement will be invalidate after aviva sold CTCE,so the NDB likely to sell their stake or may come up with a new agreement.
