The Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminals Limited which facilitates petroleum storage and distribution activities in Sri Lanka says the imported diesel stocks are up to required standards and the quality has been confirmed by the laboratory tests.
Rejecting the allegations that some vehicles had breakdowns due to substandard fuel, the company said the diesel stocks are subjected to intensive tests before unloading and distributing them throughout the island.
According to local media reports, the CPC has sent samples of suspected low quality fuel to Dubai for laboratory tests to determine whether they meet the required standards.
The distributor meanwhile said tests will be conducted if they receive any written complaints of vehicle malfunctions due to substandard fuel.
The petroleum authority last year paid compensation to over 3,000 vehicle owners whose vehicles were damaged by pumping low quality petrol.
