TUESDAY, 28 AUGUST 2012 19:52
The government appointed the head of Sri Lanka's state-run tourism board, Nalaka Godahewa, to chair the country's markets regulator, the Treasury Secretary said today.

P.B. Jayasundera said Godahewa would join the Securities and Exchange Commission with immediate effect.

The SEC post has been vacant since Aug. 17 when Tilak Karunaratne resigned, claiming he had come under pressure from market players being investigated for alleged stock market manipulation

I will reserve the ethics behind this move and hope Dr Godahewa determines for himself to be impartial and do a decent job to carry out the functions of SEC without malice or malpractice.

All the best to you Dr Godahewa.

I think there are so many areas of developments CSE needs to make it become more retailer friendly and foreign investor friendly and be a formidable Stock exchange in the world. Compared to better regulated SE , CSE has a some way to go. Hope you will take a firm stand against foul play while not intimidating certain parties unnecessarily and make it fair ground for decent play for everyone.

Also I would like to remind you on behalf of the forum that we expect you to protect and safeguard the retailer/small investor community who actually ran the CSE ( along with some foriegn investors and selected HNWI) during the most difficult times. If not for these retailers there won;t be a CSE left. Even with greatest difficultly retailers ran the CSE with even modest 90million to 150 million turnovers in the recent past.

Hope Nalaka will come up with new strategies to boost the market. He has necessary qualifications and experience to do so. He might formulate strategies to make CSE an attractive place for investment and trading.

BTW, Tomorrow may be a very good day for REEF lovers.

High net worth crooks and their crony brokers must be relieved. They could stop the criminal charges on their way and also pump and dump their billions of loses on the Sri Lankan people and their pension funds, government banks... This is truly a failed state. Glad I'm not part of that hell hole.

She was saying she didn't get the letter only many men told her in bed. So now she got the letter.
