Sri Lanka stocks closed up Thursday for the fourth day in succession gaining 0.3 percent with a sharp rise in Health Care, Banking, Finance, and insurance sectors, analysts said.
All Share Price closed at 5,388.9, up 16.7 points and the S&P SL20 index fell 0.25 percent to close at 2,936.01 points down 7.30 points. More liquid Milanka Price Index up was up by 24.59 points to close at 4,995.32.
Turnover was Rs.1.087 billion.
Retailers’ subscription for the market was so comprehensive today and in a major transaction on Asiri Surgical Hospital PLC (AMSL) has contributed immensely towards exceeding the Rs. 1billion daily turnover, a stock broker said.
The highest contributors to the daily turnover were Asiri Surgical Hospital PLC (Rs. 338.5 million), John Keells Holdings PLC (Rs. 60.7million) and Expolanka Holdings PLC (Rs. 46.9million ), The best performing sectors for the day in terms of turnover were and Health Care (Rs. 343.8Mn) and Bank Finance and Insurance (Rs. 267.3million ) sectors correspondingly, he added.
The highest traded stock for the day was Asiri Surgical Hospital PLC with 41.7 million shares changing hands. The market recorded a net foreign inflow of Rs. 66.4 million (Bandula)
