Dec 15, Colombo: A petition has been filed before a Sri Lankan court against the editor of a state-owned newspaper for continuously making critical remarks against the judiciary.
A petition has been handed over to the Supreme Court stating that Editor of the state- owned Daily News newspaper, Rajpal Abeynayake is continuously insulting those engaged in the judiciary and legal profession.
The petition has said the editor should be punished on grounds of seeking to bring the judiciary to ridicule.
The petition has been filed by Dr. Susil Prema seeking the editor to be removed from the legal profession for ridiculing the judiciary.
Abeynayake, who is a lawyer, produces a daily political programme on state radio.
