I thought I was priviledged to hear this. I have nothing but admiration for the eloquent words and wisdom of this gentleman.

I do not care what race,caste or religion. This is a wise son of Lanka.

I'll make a quick comment on this. One of the problems with many in the diaspora (both sides) is that they are all trapped in the past. It's almost like a nostalgic (i.e. a very memorable) love affair!

I continue to hear people talk about what it was like and what it could have been etc etc.

The real problem in the past and today is the class structure that has divided the entire community. Not all are the same. The elite did not fight for the universal suffrage of the upcountry tamils or rural economic progress right around the country.

They took over the roles of the imperialist British which is to suppress others and live off at other people's expense. Even today you can see this same attitude which people have to other people's life, time, labour.

This is the real problem that needs to be solved. Economic solutions can be found in the absence of complete political solutions
