SRI LANKA EQUITY FORUM - EQUITY STAR !!

Dear Members

We are introducing a Monthly Competition "SRI LANKA EQUITY SUPERSTAR"
starting from 1st May 2011.

Winner will be based on highest number of posts (Contributor) during any Calendar month. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our Highest Ever Contributor GAJA!! for his/her excellent support and contribution.

In order for us to get ourselves acquainted with the competition, I would like show you the current Standings for the Month of April which will be concluded on 30th April 2011 as a trial competition.



We would like to determine a monthly prize for the winner!
(Would like to get a feedback as to the best Prize and the Sponsorships if any)

Thanks Quibit, its a well idea, my advance wishes for the winner, even though i will continue to post i will not active as early days until 30th November due to my work

Good Concept . But also like to add that you should look for Quality not only the Quantity..

@milanka: The same thought was going through my mind; quality is more important than quantity.
So, how about a prize for the maximum number of positive votes (net)?

It not the number of posts what matters always...Quality is what matters..
Im not talking about Gaja...He is one of the most valued member of this forum undoubtedly...
And almost all the members currently in the top posts list are valued members..

My point is that with this competition some ppl will try to increase the number of posts by posting rubbish..
There should be some way to assess the quality of the post...

But there should be a restriction for creating multiple accounts by a single user if there is any possibility...

Agree with both milanka and Antonym...It should be the quality that matters most than the quantity, but how do we measure it? May be a combination of number of posts, points and reputation?

Yes , I too think on the Same line. We have to maintain a certain standered with-in the forum. Just making a post (for the sake of creating a post..) would not help any one.Finally it could degrade the quality of information within the forum.

Today I notice a post saying " I thing share xxx will go up tomorrow.." and there was no arguments to backup. Posts by GAJA and most other members always had something in it for us to think and act.

So I fully agree with Antonym . Quibi its over to you..

Winning or not. Everyone here knows who post a lot, who shares a lot of valuable info with others, who doesn't post much but the few posts they make are such great ones.

Good concept Quibit. But to be honest I prefer to stay with above guys.

I hope this forum will not be filled with silly posts.

Some are already adding same sort of topics every otherday. I kindly request these people please check at least one more page before you add a new title.
Because there is a huge chance you can find same sort of topic within 2 pages.

'posts' includes replies and not necessarily 'topics'. Topic starters are different. Agree with some of you, that at times there are many duplicate and not so professional topics started by members. But at the same time I must say that there are good topic starters and replies from some members who could be considered as an integral part of this forum. Big thank you to all of them.

Success of a forum entirely depends on activity of its membership. Moderators will ensure that the quality is maintained by guiding members and stricly implementing the forum regulations. We hope to appoint few more moderators to help the current moderators who are doing a grate job.

Competition for the Month of April is on trial basis. If the criteria is acceptable and the responses are positive, then we could have this competition monthly.

i'm afraid it is not a good idea to count the number of posts/replies or the count of + points. both will bring unwanted noise and it is much easier to manipulate them than the CSE.

Yeah, i know u do buddy...

This is a good and innovative idea. But i expect that members will not follow the quantity of posts.Because, we need quality posts.We hope that competitions can bring more quality to this forum.Personally there are enough quality posts in this forum and no need to compete each other.This is my personal view.
