I feel this is something very fishy. Look at the recent historical data of JKH movements & the index concerned. No oxygen to the market index without the JKH. There are about 275 listed entities but at the end of the day positive or negative status is to be determined by one counter itself.

You see there is not enough strong wind beneath the ASI index. Something fishy is happening.Just rise by 5,6,7 or 8 points and get deflated below zero every day. This is manipulation .Market is being held down forcibly for big fish to enter.Who's the big fish....??

Invain there are good counters waiting to get exploded and due to this manipulation the they are too stuck. One day the market will be green but not for us that also for the big sharks. They will sweep the small investors in a style....!!

Again, look at today's t.o and volume and compare those with past few days.. Yes the index can be manipulated. But not these other figures . I don't think anyone tried to drag it down. Anyway today's trading figures are quite attractive Wink

Dear Slstock..

How can you say the market is natural.....? If you take yesterdays and today scenario there is some thing behind that we cannot understand. Its not allowed to free float. When need to collect small investors money they make it appear green by pumping and once collected they start dumping and small guys losing their hard earned cash.No analysis / Valuations are viable. So this is what happened to basically and it seems like the government is pulling the strings from behind or allowing some big shot/Shots to do so.I think it's high time to divest CSE and look for an another investment option...!

@Jonny

Certain extend you got valid point. We need to have our own plan to succeed any type of market.(Note: Always we are not going to win but the wins need to cover the losses). As you said there are so many most profitable ventures other than stock market.Good luck.

At last some one is talking sense.  Definitely the market is artificial. It was the same by Then , Now and in Future also.
ASI index is highly manipulated to indicate market is positive or green , by (pumping) trading a few hundreds of SLTL , DIAL , NEST which doesn't make any sense  on a bull run. Infact odd numbers of a selected stocks trading during a day making them the top gainers to mislead the innocent investors recently entered the market.
My opinion is that market is artificially kept in GREEN zone to facilitate EXIT for someone.
I'm really interesting  in seeing today's foreign sales figure at the end of the day. Last two days are also net out-flaws.

Big Sharks will never step in to the market untill they see good numbers of retailers with two three rallys on some favorite sectors or selected entities.

@ Slstock

I would say market is consolidating when the market gets top 5 gainers from different sectors with reasonable volumes.
I would say market is consolidating when the market gets top 5 gainers are not  JKH , LLUB , CDIC , DIAL , SLTL , NEST   repeatedly.
I would say market is consolidating when the market has a average turnover of above 500 Mn for a two weeks time.

From  short term perspective , yes there appears to be  "some"
artificial play with some high caps. But I would not call it serious manipulation like in 2010 to 2011.

If one looks at the market from broader perspective  one might see differently.
See below

http://forum.srilankaequity.com/t29674-future-at-cse

Just think :

When volume dries up below average does it mean anything?
When index does not drop by huge margins (with big volume like 2011) , does it mean anything?
