Below is the analysis I made on DOCK .

COLOMBO DOCKYARD

*Established 1982
*Sector : Construction & Engineering
*A unit of Japan's Onomichi Dockyard Company

Note : This is a stock which has not been discussed much on the forum and the retailer interest has been less upto now. Hope the below evaluation will help you to identify whether it is a potential or not. My objective is not to give any buy recommendation but this is for analysis only.

Price History

At April 15th 2010 ( 1 Year ago) : Rs 288.75
At April 12th 2011 ( Now) : Rs 282

Stagnant for over 1 year!!

Discussion :

* Negative : Ship Repair revenue which bring higher margin of profit went down in 2010 compared to 2009. Mainly due to
tough competition especially from Chinese yards in the repair business.

"Revenue from ship repair fell sharply to 4.2 billion rupees in the 2010 financial year from 6.7 billion rupees the previous
year"

* Negative : As transaction are mainly doen in US$ , appreciation of rupee to a $ is bad for the company

Positive Growth prospect and news

* Revenue from ship building shot up to 9.6 billion rupees from 5.6 billion rupees.

* With Port expansions in Sri Lanka more ship can be attracted helping profitability of DOckyard in the long run

Oh this is a tough call.

LCEY is the hottest property of all & CFLB is the ultimate shareholder of LCEY. Untill recently CFLB was a giant behind the screen. People took sooo long to realised the true value of CFLB.

But when it comes to visibility of a company DOCK, BRWN & LOLC stays on a higher floor than LCEY & CFLB.

DOCK,CFLB & LCEY are still undervalued shares to my eyes.

LOLC & BRWN I would say fairly valued.

Performances wise I would select LOLC as the best of all. This is purely because of their aggressive expansion in last year so. When if comes to the board room, Ishara Nanayakka is one of the best Sri Lanka has ever produced.
LOLC is yet to finalised what they are going to do the golden mile in Beruwala ( EDEN, PALM & Riverina). It will be interesting to see who is going to manage these three hotels.

So I select LOLC & CFLB as the finalists.

It is really hard to select the best out of these two. My pick would be CFLB. If you get an average of company performances, current market value & future this is marginally ahead LOLC.

Note: This is purely what I think & I do have LOLC, DOCK & few other mentioned shares in my PF

I also think CFLB is the strongest of all with its recent perfomances
EPS (09 months endsd 31/12/10) - Rs.20.65

when looking at the recent results we can expect a NPAT around Rs.0.500Bn for the last quarter and the annualized EPS would be around Rs.34/-.

With the present market value of Rs. 432/- the P/E is around 12. Since the sector P/E is higher than 30 it seems that share is undervalued.

With the subdivision tomorrow the share will have a successful story in near future.
