Colombo shares further extended losses on Wednesday, where All share price index marginally declined by 3.34 points (-0.06%) to end at 5,744.67 and S&P SL 20 index fell by 6.17 points (-0.19%) to end at 3,162.52. Price depreciations in primary blue chips such as Ceylon Tobacco (-2.48%, closed at LKR 1,030.00) and John Keells Holdings (-0.93%, closed at LKR 214.00) contributed negatively to the market performances.

Daily Market turnover was LKR 836mn. Commercial Leasing & Finance (LKR 390mn) topped the turnover list with LKR 390mn underpinned by a negotiated deal of 78mn shares at LKR 5.00. The crossing recorded in CT Land & Developments (3.2mn shares at LKR 32.50) helped to position the share as the second highest contributor with LKR 130mn to the market turnover followed by Lanka Century Investments with LKR 78mn.

Meanwhile Touchwood Investments, Lanka Century Investments, PC House & Dankotuwa Porcelain were among the mostly traded stocks for the session. While most counters in banking sector improved with the statement made by Treasury Secretary Dr.P.B.Jayasundara regarding the computation of the 2% Nation Building Tax (NTB) on the financial services sector will be on the Value Added Tax (VAT) base and not on turnover or income.

Foreign participation was 13% where foreign investors were net sellers with a net outflow of LKR 47mn. Foreign net outflows were mainly seen in Lanka Century Investments (LKR 48mn) & Commercial Bank (LKR 10mn).

Cash map ended at 73.42%.
