We should be alert about tea brokers too.
ASIY , CTEA , TSML , CTBL
world tea auction prices are good.
Will see in coming weeks.

P.S. - Im not an expert just shared my views.

Lot of people are waiting for plantation sector. If you see the price trends in colombo tea brokers, it is upward trends..So results will be reflected in next two quarter finnacial statements.you have to wait some time. With that mind set ,I brought BIL @1.70 as it has more than 70% from plantation and it is well diversified group.NAV is around 2.9 after the right issue. It is under value share with high potention for grouth with plantation sector. There are other reosons for investing this share and few I have explained in my preveous post.

I agree with Englishkrishantha, I bought MADU at around 13 the reasons being

* The current plantation rally is mainly companies exposed to Tea
* Madu EPS for the quater 30.06.2014 is more than 2 NAV is more than 50
* Mainly into Tea

Can reach 20 levels

To: KAS10

In my opinion the plantation rally has already started the share prices of companies who are exposed to tea have gone up. If Tea prices go up further these companies share prices will definitely rocket up.

Happy Trading

Very much fragile. Sensitive to external factors like labour wage, wrather,Oil price. Last time rubber price was the reason for uptrend.

Almost all plantation stocks seem undervalued currently( if you consider price should be 12x EPS or 1.5 NAVPS).

By reading comments on the sector we see that the following effect the profitability of the sector:

1. weather
2. wage issues.
3. World commodity prices ( Tea,rubber etc..)
4. Crude oil prices (Not sure why)

Pls comment if there are anymore to watch.

My question are:
Whats the best way to value a plantation sector stock? ( Can we use 12x EPS or 1.5 NAVPS).
What are the other factors that will drive this sector?

I really appreciate if some knowledgeable member can share their thoughts..

I have invested in

MADU @ 13
ELPL, @ 19
BALA: 31.50
HAPU: 35

If your investing buy with caution as the plantation sector as already gone up and going through a slight correction and like ADP mentioned in the post on 29.08.2014 (by ADP on Fri Aug 29, 2014 5:09 am) there is a lot of risk involved when investing in this sector....
