Well
Someone told me to buy shares of banks like sampath, hdfc etc..
I also suppose there is a low level of risk..

Don't banks make sudden rises in their stock price?

I know that there are no fortune tellers but any advice is appreciated.

Which bank would you prefer??

For me mainly MBSL
reasons - 2010 Profits + 2011 Q profits + future Dividend capable + Presently Low cost [Investors can afford to buy it even @ 80/- compared to other Bank stocks which are very High Prices] + Evaluate on EPS & Sector PE it worth more than current MKT price = Gives me a good Smell of this MBSL will move upto 80/- or nearer very soon

Don't expect to see rise of only the banks in CSE. It's attached with la ot of Finance companies and Banks have considerable effects from them. But now, Banks preforming well with some new strategies because of this competition etc..Some banks have minimize their NPL to considerable percentage. The result should be OK. And some counters in this section like COMB,SAMP looking strong and also CRL,SEMB may be in that list after their result..

Good Luck investors..! Smile

You must sometimes think out of the box.

Tides change and rise drastically (Ex: Misissippi River, USA) and then the Banks are broken.

So it goes with the financial sector.
The banks cannot do wonders YOY unless there is large expansion taking place and except the Hotel Industry I do not see other businesses taking off. What other MEGA investments are taking place?

I would say that all the members identify very clearly one or two known enterprices / projects which are to take place this year / next year.

The interim reports of the banks for March 2011 released so far have produced good results, and some have produced results better than last quater. But in my opinion, these results were not better than expected.

I don't expect banking mega rally / sudden rise soon.
For a long time, we are expecting banking rally. If rally initiated by someone, their will be huge selling pressure within 5% capital gain. So, rally should break these selling orders. Therefore we need big hand investers to do this. Otherwise rally will rest for a while, and then it will start again (like BRWN)
Now our retailers are with illiquid shares. we need big fishes for banking rally. Banking shares are comparatively higher amount with CDs account and their capitalization also high. (CDs % of shares= COMB- 95.5% SAMP-88.9% NTB- 83.9% HNB- 82.6% NDB-80.9% DFCC- 97.7% MBSL- 99.4%) Big market capitalization with higher number of shares is very difficult to get price appreciation with current market condition (mainly depends on retailers).
But Banking shares are now at bargain prices. These shares are stable stocks. So, don't expect overnight mi(bi)llionairein stock market. Hold your shares. It will be appreciated when CSE enters into healthy condition
