Today (1st Nov) all fund managers (Foreign, government and Private) were heavily active and Colombo Stock Market was up by 121.78, and all stakeholders were happy, but the media (Government and private) was unable to project it properly.
“A temporary political uncertainty was occurred due to two reasons:
1. There was a rumor that budget would be defeated and the strong government in the center would be toppled.
2. After defecting of one minster from government - as another presidential candidate, and false rumors of mass crossovers.
This uncertainty was clouded for the investor community in the Colombo stock market in last week, and there was a drastically drop (around 500 continuously) in market indicators. After the end of political drama carried out by opposition political parties in Sri Lanka, It was clear that the government in the center is still very strong, therefore, all the investor community (foreign & local) actively and positively got involved again in the market, lifting indicatosr by 121.78 points.
