At the Sirasa Tv morning news brief programme speaking on the latest 'Bond Manipulation' by new regime's Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran; Jaathika Hela Uramaya (JHU) National Organizer Nishantha Sri Warnasinha said that 'Misusing the people's vote given for Maithripala Sirisena to be the President, Ranil Wickramasinghe also became Prime Minister and Ranil upon getting discussed cabinet approval to appoint Arjuna Mahendran as the Central Bank Governor, Wickramasinghe worked fast to get a Sri Lankan Citizenship back to Mahendran who is a Singaporean at the moment within a period less than 24 hours.'

Warnasinha said there was serious displeasure from cabinet when Wickramasinghe appointed a Singaporean Mahendran as the Central Bank Governor of Sri Lanka.

As per Singapore rules according to reports Arjuna Mahendran has still not given up the Singaporean Citizenship being now a Sri Lankan too.

RW should answer openly to the question raised by the JVP. If done, unacceptable action from a matured politician. This is not what expected from RW led cabinet.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe on Tuesday (17) informed the Parliament that Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran will be on leave until investigation on the treasury bonds issue is concluded.

The Sri Lankan-born international banker, who was only appointed to the post on January 23, has been in the spotlight recently due to the controversy surrounding a Treasury bond issue by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL).

There had been rising concerns in bond markets over controversial deals made over the past week by Perpetual Treasuries, a firm connected to Arjun Aloysius, the son-in-law of Governor Arjuna Mahendran.

President Maithripala Sirisena last week appointed a three member committee to investigate alleged irregularities surrounding the bond issue.
