In finance, a warrant is a security that entitles the holder to buy the underlying stock of the issuing company at a fixed price called exercise price until the expiry date

Hi Charith

warrants are issued to only existing share holders ( Just like rights ) at a proportion to their existing holding.

however you don't need to  pay any thing when issued, but you had to accept the entitlement.

you only pay at the expiry of the warrants at a pre determined set price.

in the mean time you could trade the warrants ( W ) in the CSE at the market determined price. ( normally ordinary share price less warrant price less time premium for the expiry date )

if you don't subscribe on or before the expiry of the warrant then you will lose that entitlement.

when you pay the predetermined price for the warrant on the due dates then they will become ordinary shares ( N ) back to you.

for example please note: John Keells Holding Plc ( JKH.W0023)

hope this helps.

thanks
