Look at the so called corporate accountability rating and see what have been awarded to some of the big agro chemical companies who have been murdering their valued customers (who give us rice) and their families for years and have been covering up them with money or even shutting up the heroes who came forward with the truth, with even more murder. Some murderers have got gold rating.

How the experts assessed from http://lmd.lk/2011/02/01/lmd-feb11/

Corporate values determine whether a company has made an effort to establish a set of high-level values or principles that define the role it wants to play in society, by incorporating aspects of accountability and responsibility in its corporate statements (vision, mission, values and so on)

Stakeholder engagement assesses whether an organisation is aware of who its key stakeholders are and the extent to which it engages with them, as well as whether it provides adequate responses to critical issues, concerns or grievances raised by stakeholders.

Identifying impacts, risks and opportunities measure the extent to which a company is aware of the main impacts on economic, social and environmental sustainability as a result of its operations, as well as whether it can identify and respond to credible risks and opportunities arising from such impacts.

Policy coverage assesses the extent to which a business has policies with regard to managing environmental aspects, labour practices, human rights and societal concerns.

Management and governance pertains to whether globally recognised management systems are in place with respect to the environment, health and safety, quality and workplace practices. This section also assesses the nature of corporate governance, and the extent to which accountability and responsibility are integrated into core governance processes.

Measurement and disclosure revolve around the extent to which a company measures its performance against key sustainability-related indicators. This segment also assesses whether the organisation publishes a sustainability report that addresses its environmental, social and economic performance and impacts; and the quality, comparability and credibility of information contained in the report.

Don't let them get away with mass murder.

In regions like Anuradhapura there is a silent massacre going on for sometime and still going on by arsenic. Some heroic humans have come up with the cause and had the guts to point the culprits. This is just like the tobacco companies which promoted that smoking is good for your health decades ago. the tobacco companies funded scientists to prove that smoking improves health. and those days people accepted that. Media promoted. not a joke. it's a fact. Cigarettes were picked as vitamins.
I haven't seen much support from the media against this crime against humanity. in fact i saw a full page ad today by a company saying their tests have proved that they are clean. (just like the tobacco company tests.) and they are going to sue the media with their army of lawyers.
Hope Mahinda, Gotabaya take tough actions against the culprits for the sake of farming families and orphaned children by this arsenic massacre. They should be fined to clean up the poison and support all the families and children who lost their loved ones because of this.
