Is there a person in this world foolish than Ranil? He is going to impose tax on capital as well. My god, where is this country heading? Is this guy, Ranil a buffalo

Holding fast to Government efforts to reduce protectionism, tough-talking Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe read the riot act to the private sector yesterday, telling them to get ready to do business with international companies or face broadened capital gains taxes.

it will be interesting how the market will react to this statement.

I like statement 1,4 n 5. These things should be done but statement 2 n 3 is highly controversial. I don't think local manufacturing industry is sophisticated or has economies of scale advantage against foreign manufacturing companies to compete against. If they have proof that pvt companies has given funding for these protest please call high ranking officials of those companies and give them stern warning without threatening them publicly. Saying that pvt companies are funding protest publicly doesn't paint a good picture for this govt when attracting foreign investors.
