Surge of Japanese Yen pushes up car prices imported from Japan. Price impact on in coming shipment would be very high that would reduce the volume of selling units. It is reported that some importers have already increased the selling prices of vehicles imported before at low exchange rate of Yen. Any reduction of vehicle sales would be an impact to tax revenue into state coffers deviating from the budgeted tax revenue.

Not sure. In case those taxes are added it would be extremely expensive. Dreams of those who plan to buy one will be shattered. Any tax expert elaborate the issue please.

They removed all different  tax types ( telling that they were simplifying ) and then came up with new vehicle tax. So currently no VAT on vehicles.

If  they do not impose VAT again separately no impact.

New car prices are gone up to Rs.1.5 to Rs.2 lakh due to the surge of Yen value. News revealed that no effect from latest tax revisions done. Not sure again. This has to be verified.
