Better to go level by level rather than thinking of the total cost at the beginning.

Level 1 registration and exam fee will vary from 700 USD to 1200 USD depending on the date you register. Earlier you register, the cost is low. On tuition fee, earlier Mercury was conducting classes and dont know whether they do now. Any way it will cost another Rs. 100,000.

Level 2 and 3 also, reg & exam fees will lay in the same territory. To my knowledge, there are no tuition providers in Sri Lanka and suggested method is to by a by a package from a recognized international tuition provider. (Schweser, Fitch learning etc.) This will cost around USD 1000+ per level.

Good Luck

I m also thinking of reading for CFA. In my firm lot of people are now reading for CFA right after being charted qualified to change the career path from accounting to investment banking.

If you are in investment banking in London, you will be making plenty money. I remember one of my friend told, his room mate right after school started as an associate in investment banking and now as a senior associate he sell bonds to pension funds and make £150,000+ year.

But then again IB is a really stressful job. No work life balance. Change of career means will have to start from bottom. Will need some time to do serious thinking before taking any CFA exams.

Yes, CFA needs commitment and well disciplined preparation than the typical university or professional exams (I sat for Level 3 this time).

Tution won't help much for CFA. For level 1 & 2,  the best option is to study course preparation material from a 3rd party vendor such as Schweser and then to solve the questions in the CFA official books. For level 3, the best option is to use the official material.

The CFA institute also provides some scholarships which are generally merit based.
