Once the construction activities including the Port City gets going in full throttle, the demand for cement will be so high that Tokyo may not be in a position to meet the demand.
A share with great potential for appreciation in the not too distant future for sure.

In the last year, TOKYO revenue vs sales cost was in the linear region.
In the last quarter they were in the bottom of that. It means they don’t need more investment/upgrades, simply they can elevate GP by just increasing sales.
Since they are in the bottom of this liner region, when they elevate their sales it will generate few times higher GP.
Anyway a smart investor will find out other dynamics which has an impact on sales as well as the cost.
Lot of people read TOKYO report in the wrong way that smart investors can utilize this as an opportunity.
DISC : not holding, but I might enter, seeking for a more attractive price.

Tokyo embarked on an ambitious expansion plan based on the Govt's farsighted decision to encourage local manufacturing sector. Hence, i am confident that the new FM will intervene to revise the MRP in order to achieve a win-win situation in relation to its accelerated development while benefiting the manufacturing sector. In a constantly evolving economic & business scenario certain changes in policy is imminent and inevitable.

In the above stated event collectors will emerge winners. GL

Price revision is the only way out in the short term.

There has been an upward revision of Laugfs gas price. Likewise, cement price too may be revised given the heavy reliance of mega infrastructure development projects on cement.

TKYO in keeping with investor expectation can turn out to be the golden egg. Don't sell & regret later. Just an advise!

ANC Can print as much money as he wants. Surely we will see a price revision in Cement as well. So much for the modern monetary theory or should I say Cabral Economic. "we can print as much money as we want. There will not be any rise in Inflation" Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

MMT holds true where there is substantial economic growth (GDP). ANC may be banking on FDIs and other inflows, something we have to wait and see. TOKYO CEMENT COMPANY (LANKA) PLC - Page 19 Icon_lol

Tokyo 🚀🚀🚀🚀

Construction workers state that a cement shortage has disrupted construction activities for more than two weeks.

This is due to cement importers not releasing goods to the market. Cement importers have requested a price hike between Rs. 100 -150 from the Consumer Affairs Authority as they are incurring higher costs in releasing the goods to the market, and have been turned down.

Constructors lament severe cement shortage
Cement is unavailable in the country now and constructors said that they cannot meet deadlines of their contracts due to this reason.
Even though a bag of cement has to be sold at Rs. 950, now it is being sold at Rs.1,200 causing untold hardships for the contractors.
Kurunegala District Building Constructors’ Association Chairman N.M.Nimal Perera said that authorities should take immediate steps to resolve the issue.

Tokyo is trading deeply discounted to it's 200 / 20 MA & RSI below 30 as there is significant uncertainty prevailing with regards to its escalating COS due to LKR depreciation and margins deteriorating due to prices being controlled by the gov.

CAA has given the green light for a price hike which is now awaiting regulatory approval. TKYO has also engaged in capacity increment initiatives which will see it add a further  1 mn MT production capacity to its existing  3mn MT. Cement is essential and TKYO is a counter worthy to be monitored.

I personally believe TKYOx should be trading no lower than 60 and TKYO at 74-75 once the price hike is approved.

Disclosure : I hold TKYO
