soon it will start running away from 11's ...Profit for the year could be between 5-6b's....it looks like dialog turnaround is fine and they are to diversify their business horizontaly towards IT services...(recent announcment)..And also their problem child ,Dialog TV has start generating profit since last Q...

What I don't understand is retailers are willing to buy SLTL trading at forward PE of 34, while refusing to buy DIAL at forward PE of 17 saying it's too liquid. In actual fact, SLTL is #3 in terms of market capitalization while DIAL is #5

Of the two companies, you know which one is more conservative and which one is more innovative

You have a good point there. This has been stagnant for too long. One reason might be is there are lot of shareholder in the market and every time there is a hint of a run many seller come in to kill it. Need a few institutional buys to prep this up I guess.
High time this went for run anyway.

This was declining or flat for almost three weeks in a row! During that time, it went into the oversold territory. Two days back it finally reversed. Now with EPF and a few other local institutional investors being active yesterday, the uptrend might last a few weeks too. The only draw back is foreign funds are still pulling out. And they hold loads and loads of DIAL.

yes and there are loads of people who have been stuck with Dial since post IPO days and are waiting to get out ...I know some of them personally their exit points are 14, 17 and 20 so the moment there is a hint of an upward trend sellers flock like bees to honey. It's worth more than Rs.11 though for heavens sake. But I'm not jumping on th eband wagon either cos you have to wait for yonks to see an upward trend all the while you see crap stocks chugging away.

Share volume wise Dilaog is the bigger out of the two isn't it? prob another reason for the sluggish patttern.

Yes, number of shares of dialog is much higher than SLT but SLT is priced 5 times higher. You are right about people looking to get out at every price level, that's exactly why it's stuck here.

Even if you are not an expert you can still read what's said above in this thread regarding liquidity right?

Foreign holding is actually more than 90% but 85% of it will not be sold.

Any news on their profit reported in the latest statement to come out? Heard Dialog may reveal a considerable profit in the upcoming report which was approved by the board recently. If this is the case it may surely be reflected in their share price.

Dialog EPS in 1st quoter 0.17

So EPS =0.17*4= 0.68
PER in TLE = 32.7

Then share price = 0.68*32.7 =22.2

But it is 9.7?

You would be well advised to read the forum's past topics. YOu would learn that

1) you should not annualize EPS by multiplying last quarter by 4 (ask the chicken farmers for details)
2) you can't multiply apples by oranges. (32.7 is trailing PER for the sector, the 0.68 is your forcast EPS, they are apples and oranges).
3) THere are only 2 companies in the telecom sector so using sector PE in any calculation is a bit rediculous to say the least.
4) why would anyone want to buy a share trading at PE 32 when there are plenty of good shares available for picking at PE < 10 ?
