I wonder where are those forum members who were endlessly promoting expo just before the IPO closing date.

Some of them are shar, saaj, rizjiji and bart. Interestingly all these members have joined the forum during the period when this IPO was on offer and were not active after it was closed. (It may be the same person with multiple user names)

See following post for more details.

I did not apply to Expo and Softlogic both IPO's due to the higher prices they offered for IPOs. Now it seems to be a good decision. After a month, not even 10% return for expo. Softlogic should be worst than this. I feel sorry for the retailers who applied these IPOs. Sad

No. I don't think. I used to buy Sri Lankan raw coconuts in Hyper markets. May be there is a restriction for exports as raw coconut.

+ for you Smile
of course. what made me keep away from this was too much propaganda. The way they advertised on TV & radio it was apparent they were targeting retailers without much experience.

Same here, because of the PP it was a double thought which helped me to stay away.. I guess i made a good decision too Smile waiting to see what comes out with Softlogic. Softlogic appears to have few hospitals under their fingers.. hmm well since i don't have solid research materials to evidence that, i will just keep it down Smile

I am suspecting there is a possibility like this.

We all think people who bought EXPO @ 6 may sell below 14 to get quick profits and it may bring the price to even 9.00.

I think, the high net people who got it months ago can keep it for some more months / years. It is the retailers who behave like 'kepichcha panuwo' and sell in panic.

I feel some big guys also will sell in smaller quantities to put this down so they can collect more at lower levels.

It is good for them and for the company because EXPO got 14 Rupees for a share while they (the big players) try to buy same below 14 when retailers sell them.

Global markets dropped across the board yesterday. As did much of the CSE,
Milanka ended negative.

It was expected that there would be much selling due to the 'controversies' and
yet the price to a large degree held steady amidst the selling.

I'm of the view that it really wasn't an "EPIC fail".
Perhaps give it a bit of time before judging.

The Expolanka Holdings’ share which debuted in the Colombo bourse failed to create the excitement, but gave a fair performance by being the number one turnover contributor yesterday.

The share which was offered to the public at Rs.14 only, went up 2 percent during the day. The share opened at Rs.15 and then started descending downward to below Rs.14.50 levels.

The highest price the share traded was Rs.15 and the lowest was Rs.14.20. The share closed at Rs.14.40 and contributed Rs.459 million to the day’s turnover.

According to brokers, some investors were reluctant to get into the Expolanka share yesterday due to fears that private placement parties who bought the company’s share at Rs.6 will dump their shares into the market.

“This was one of the main reasons for investors to act somewhat reserved towards the share,” a broker said.

Expolanka offered 172 million shares to the public at Rs.14 to raise Rs.2.4 billion last month. Prior to that in December 2010, the company engaged in a sell-down of 317 million shares at Rs.6.

EXPO will open at 100. It's quite easy. Someone has to enter a sell order at 100 and someone else has to enter a buy order at 100, and those orders will be matched and open will be marked as 100 (See how SLTL opens at 60 or 61 almost everyday while it's trading range is 55-58)

When EXPO opens at 100 the kind of people who bought WAPO at 10,000 and ALUF at 192 will barge in and buy like crazy while WAPO themselves start selling their stakes. This will probably drive the price down to about 80.

At 60, another bunch of investors, the kind of people who bought TAFL at 240 will wade in thinking 'damn, this looks attractive it's trading 10 bucks lower than the open'. Then JKH will start selling driving the prices down to about 60 (1000% profit).

When price reaches 60, the kind of people who paid 350 for JKH shares last year will enter the share ('damn 40% down from the open right?'). By now those who bought above 90 will be really worried. Other people who subscribed to the IPO will now start selling, driving the price down to about 30

At this stage normally sane investors who refuse to touch CARE at 250 or CSF at 15 will think, damn this is down 70% guess it's safe now. But their buying will not be enough to hold the prices steady. People who bought in the first half hour are now on the verge of jumping out of building. Meanwhile the market closes at 20

Over the next few days the share price gradually declines to 14. All those who bought above 75 will now sell absolutely disgusted, wowing never to buy on emotion again. The price will now drop below the IPO price. Suddenly JKH, WAPO etc will start buying back the shares they sold at 100 or even 50. The price will then start moving up and the retailers who bought at 90 and sold at 15 will scramble to get back on board. The cycle will continue once again.

Well it didn't happen with expo but it certainly happened with LOFC today. Now all that remains for the LOFC gamblers is to join the club created by SFIN and UBC first day traders and watch the value of their holding slowly erode. LOFC is worth Rs 5.00 according to their own valuation.

My broker said there has been some foreign interest in EXPO. This is a good buy for long term investors.

This is not a buy/sell/ hold recommendation please do your analysis before investing

May be some of you might care to have a look at the upcoming financials. Its quite possible some new IPOs had one off gains recently to boost their prospectus.
