Since you are a new comer you have to be very careful in selection else you could burn your fingers.

Presently most of the counters are releasing the 3Q results and the prices are at peak . Also you could try the several IPO's this year. Currently Union bank is accepting subscription. Read the discussion on Union bank in a another thread under this forum.

I think it's not that good to think CARS, BUKI are so awesome from how they acted today. I remember there were times when it comes pretty hard to find buyers and the price dip down. It's like those illiquid shares you see that go up 20% one day and 20% down days later but not that extreme.

Ah, I believe an open invitation to hawk some of the shares each of us owns. But I will resist the temptation. This market situation is not suitable for beginners. I suggest you stick to IPOs still April.

Thankzz for d replys guys.
But I must say I'm not a new comer to this thing but I would say lack f knowledge to analyze could be the case. I entered to the market in 2008 august( in d last crisis tym) & started with a Rs.5000( as a student) knowing nothing abt market behavior. But with a decent adviser I was able to grow it to few lakzz as I was into few rallys. All these investments I've done were short term & 3 months would be d max. But whole this time I depended on my broker & it was his advice to buy while I only do the selling when I felt time is right.
So now I'm feeling like I should do study in ma own & get into d business although I know nothing abt commerce stream. Hope u guys can help me with that. Now What I'm thinking is from where can I start.............???
Also after 2 yrs experience I think "I should move into long term investing" & it's better.
well I've added RICH already into my portfolio. And carsons group shares are way too expensive to me.

Hi Koolbird

I have not analyzed CDB and CWM but those are fundamental. I thought to buy CDB when it was 50 level. but i could not... I have don the analysis on KAPI... It will help you to do the further analysis on KAPI

KAPI's New projects

1. Purchasing of Northern Power Company Private Limited, a 40MW HFO power plant located in Chunnakam, Jaffna, as the largest provider of electricity to the Jaffna Peninsula

2. KAPI’s subsidiary CML-MTD Construction (Pvt.) Ltd. Has received the contract to undertake many road and bridge construction projects across the nation.
3. Provide total solution for hydropower power plants in Sri Lanka one-stop-shop concept for mini hydropower companies in the country. In partnership with the world’s largest hydropower company, the Andritz Group.
4. Received contracts for the Southern Highway and other major highways and roads throughout the island.

5. KAPI won the bid to construct Colombo- Katunayake expressway
6. Expand and consolidate its subsidiaries of Walkers Piling and Walkers Engineering by installing two new piling machines worth Rs. 200 million, that has been ordered and two more are in the pipeline in expectation of the construction boom.

Non Interest Bearing loans--------------------------- Rs. 848,278,262

Overdraft ------------------------------------------------ Rs.226,647,954

Total Borrowings --------------------------------------- Rs.1,781,971,569

Total Interest Expenses.-----------------------------------Rs 67,051,237

The Purpose of right Issue

The purpose for which the proceeds of the issue are to be utilized

1. To capitalize loans received for the acquisition of companies previously

2. To acquire Northern Power Company (Pvt) Ltd

3. To Finance Working Capital of the company

http://www.cse.lk/cmt/uploadAnnounceFiles/9961288151500_444.pdf

The proceeds of this Rights Issue will be used for the 100% purchase of Northern Power Company Private Limited, a 30MW HFO power plant located in Chunnakam, Jaffna, as the largest provider of electricity to the Jaffna Peninsula. The balance of the Rights Issue proceeds will be used for capital expenditure and working capital requirements of the MTD Group of Companies.

http://srilankastockpicks.blogspot.com/2010/12/mtd-walkers-plc-announce-rights-issue.html

We do not know about the numbers of the loans received for the acquisition of companies previously and the amount required to acquire Northern Power Company (Pvt) Ltd. However I would say major part of the loan will be settled from the right issue. Hence Finance cost amounts Rs.67Mn will be reduced and this would strengthen the bottom line. This scenario will highlight only on 4th quarter results.

Let us workout the utilization of right issue

Total Proceeds From Rights ----------------- --------------------Rs. 3,585,096,339

Interest Bearing loans---------------------------------- ------------- Rs. 707,045,353 1st Preference to settle

Overdraft -------------------------------------------------------------- Rs.226,647,954 2nd Preference

Non Interest Bearing loans--------------------------- -------------- Rs. 848,278,262

(This loan may be obtained from parent company, there should be flexibility for the repayment)

Hence the amounts of Rs.2Bn (after settlement of interest bearing loans and OD) will be utilized for the acquisition of Northern Power Company (Pvt) Ltd , other investment opportunities and working capital requirement.

We can see the restructured and sound balance sheet from the 4th quarter. Further income generate from new projects ( mentioned in previous ) also will contribute to strengthen the company performance and value…

Keep on Investing in growth sectors……

Happy Trading

I also agree with tubal. you may keep the money until the mkt drop. Dnt put the hand to Hot water. u bub when others sell. u sell when others buy. so wait until others sell continuously. you can earn smartly from IPOs. until then study about shares.
