U should be a lucky guy not to get stuck in between trading hours.. Their systems could be the best but bottlenecks start every time they do an upgrade.. And this DirectFN web interface is mostly not getting updated after 5-10 mins in to trading.. I had to log off 20-30 times a day if I use it.. but software version is good..
And the biggest hiccup I've faced was the latency on IPO days.. It sucks at IPO openings..

There are many people in this forum are victims of their (brokers) stupid advices.

Same here! I also contact my broker only to pull out cash...however, my broker is a very nice guy..whenever I call him he is very friendly.....

100% correct. I too contact them only for matters pertaining to my Account settlement.

I feel time to come the all the stock brokering companies will improve their standards (customer service / research reports / online trading platforms etc.). Because, there are more and more players entering this business and competition among brokering firms are increasing. Also, broker firms customer service will get exposed through forums like this.

most brokers at the very first , they are the most friendliest brokers in the world. but after they realized that you are a retailer, they don't care about your investments.other thing is they treat us like that, we get advises free of charge. this is Sri Lanka, never changes.

believe me. it is always better to take decisions by your own. some brokers, when you are relatively new and apparent that u do not know the game, will definitely play you pawn. consult them - most of the time they won't give you a proper answer - but do not 100% rely on them.

you don't need brokers to tell you what to buy, if you follow this forum carefully you can make money without a brokers advice, most of the brokers will bankrupt you, they are very good at unloading there shares to there clients, so be wise and follow reputed seniors in this forum and also give credit to this forum if you do become a millionaire Very Happy

Stock brokers never give SOUND advice.
They only make a sound when they have already bought plenty of shares and now want to dump it on the poor customers.

Then they are very interested in the customer!

Thank you, yes, How we can trust these advisers, as daniel said they can unload their shares to us also they can do anything they want because I have no experience and new to the trade. so As you all advice I will take little bit time and learn with following on this forum.

* can broker buy or sell shares without informing me on my a/c?
* if I deposit some money to my CDS a/c and wait for buy shares for some days (like one month), are they giving any interest on that?

I appreciate your help and I am having lot of question at the moment but let me read and follow the forum, may be I will find some answer here. I wish you all,, have a nice weekend !!!!

Answer to the first question is NO. And this is a very good question. You must make it clear to the broker that without any instructions from your side, the broker shall not touch your holdings. If he is already doing it, tell him firmly but diplomatically, not to do so. It is a regulation and if it's being violated, You have every right to file a complain to the higher management of the broker house. Hope our forum experts add something more to this.

Second Answer is also NO. The money just sit there and wait.
