If we win this it will improve our country image but Are we economically stable enough to host such an event ? Can't we use that money more usefully ?

i think if Hambanthota becomes the 2018 commonwealth host, that's a 500 points on ASI.

What happened Greece??? (After Athens Olympic)
Our country do not have healthy income but loans to repay.
Most of the govt projects do not generate income ex. Hambanthota Port

Doing this type of things without healthy income is like use of broker credits.
Country will end up with huge loss. We have experienced this type of loss twice
1.Aifa (Not expected income to the country.)
2.Cricket world cup.

As expected cricket world cup did not generate income through tickets and tourism. But people on the project earn lot?? This is one of the reasons the Sri Lanka Cricket is running loss.I cant comment more than this on cricket.
My dear same thing, I mean MISMANAGEMENT will be taken place in Commonwealth games. Those parties are gathering at sports ministry now.
U may find gold , oil or diamond in Sri Lanka but general public do not get the benefit but bear the loss only.
If you are not agree with this management concept in Sri Lanka check SLIC past and present . cherry

Hosting Commonwealth Game is not easy ..... its 1/4 from entire budget ....

Thank God !! Sri Lanka lost for good!!!
Bad luck for all the people who were preparing to earn black money from it.,
Sri Lanka spent millions of dollars Just for the presentation itself,foolish politics never wake up,,they do not need to wake up ,their aim is collect as much as they can while they are in power.,But common man must stay awake for the sake of our mother country and for the future generations..

Good. Still we could not maintain our cricket grounds , so how they will maintain the stadiums after games. How much money will waste for this. So lucky we did not get this.

Though i am staying in Qatar, we have hosted Asian Games in Qatar.. due to this house rent increase (They demolish old houses to make the country beautifull). Many items prices increased. All the money they spend got from the expariates. Same thing could be happen in SL. Never knows
