As three others have pointed out before me, that was just the LHCL purchase. Don't jump to the conclusion that foreigners are returning. Enough has been written in international business journals about how funds are being withdrawn across all emerging markets and are being moved back into US and Europe.

I also notice that some people comment daily how share XXXX or YYYY has seen an increase in foreign holding. I can only assume that those purchases are by Sri Lankans living abroad. The numbers would certainly indicate that it is so.

Even though its mainly due to one off transaction related to LHCL, will the foreign interest come to CSE again

i m sure this is to do with the oil prices.

Due to middle east problems oil prices are going high; therefore foreign funds are moving into oil speculation frm Asia... yesterday fuel went up by 2p in uk and today by 1p....

@chamith: I don't think so. Foreign Funds that invest in equities of frontier markets do not normally divert their money for speculating on oil prices. (There are a few exceptions - like HSBC's World Selection Fund, but that's the general rule.)

Even equity funds focus on specific sectors or geographies; very little leeway is given to the fund manager.

frontier markets fund managers are not speculators . they are not even allowed to practice short sell too.
but hedge funds are allowed to speculate or basically do any thing within the law to make profits.

i don't know whether foreigners will come here or not to invest in this over price market . (which every sudda says now)
but we can expect Mr Muammer Gaddafi and five members of his family may come and invest here since they have no where to go . Idea

( George Osborne has frozen the British-held assets of Muammer Gaddafi and five members of his family, as Treasury officials step up efforts to track down billions of pounds held in bank accounts and commercial property )
Idea Idea Idea Idea Idea Idea

In it is interested to note 1st one Indian company build the company and run for sometimes and left, now another Indian company enters in to it. But unless Government agree for it, they can't get in to the Management in big way. So will wait and see their plans
